GOP Source: Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, Madam Vice President

August 29, 2008 10:33 AM ET | James Pethokoukis | Permanent Link | Print

Update on 8/29/08: I talked to a high-ranking Obama campaign member this morning who was in complete shock after the Palin pick.

Sarah Palin doesn't tick off all the boxes—notably foreign policy experience. But she ticks off quite a few. She is pro-life. She will appeal to economic conservatives. (Here is what Club for Growth President Pat Toomey says: "At a time when many Republicans are still clinging to pork-barrel politics, Governor Palin has quickly become a leader on this issue. She is a principled reformer who understands how badly wasteful spending has marred the Republican brand.") And as far as national security goes, energy is at the center of that issue—a Palin strength. If early reaction is any indication. St. Paul will be rocking.

Palin in Alaska

Did I just see Mrs. Palin get off of a plane, kiss her baby and walk off to wave to a crowd? What kind of person/mother would not have picked up her own four month old infant when she arrived home?

Sarah Palin

The possibility of this woman becoming VP thrills me to death! Finally I am excited about the election! She pulls no punches, and makes no apologies...and doesn't need to! She's an absolute breath of fresh air that Washington has needed for a long time! I hope McCain/Palin team wins by a landslide! That will show those tax and spend liberals trying to take over our pocketbooks that America just isn't ready for their agenda!

Sarah Palin, V.P.

What a choice. The Chicago machine candidate and a plgarist who never met a payroll, and ate out of the taxpayers trough for 35 years, and no military time. Well, you welfare seekers, You have reason to be nervous.Go John/ Sarah
