Latest Presidential Polls Show a New List of Target States for Obama and McCain

Well, thank goodness.

The LAST thing we need is a two-year, billion-dollar campaign season only to find the electoral college map strangling us into a REPLAY of previous elections where a handful of Diebold-machine states decide everything for us all.

Now, in addition to above, if we could just get church people honest enough to admit to themselves that John and Cindy McCain are beer dealers (and, as a result) NOT being called by God to lead America, most of the rest of the Bible-belt states would go into contention too. But, alas, truth is tough to swallow, and many of them will try hard not to know or notice.

This is a test of the American people

This is a test of the collective intelligence of the American people. After 8 years of Bush it is no secret what Republican leadership brings. Huge investment in tax breaks for the top 5%, large investment in war and regime change overseas...no resources left to address border security, education, healthcare etc.

Obama's leadership and policy positions are precisely what this country needs. OF COURSE we need to get out of iraq. It cost 10 Billion per month. OF COURSE the middle class need a tax cut more than the rich do. Its the middle class that has been squeezed. It would be great to have someone who could think and speak as President. Not someone who is selling their name or family story to be president.

The question that remains is will the American people hold on to racism and thus parrish under 4 more years of Republican rule? Or will they put past divisions behind them and save this country by changing direction under Obama's leadership.

Latest Presidential Polls

I saw my first McCain bumper sticker yesterday in Philadelphia, one of the most Democratic cities in the country. Fittingly, it was on a new Mercedes parked at an expensive hotel, and quickly became an object of derision and ridicule.

Any country whose voters are dumb enough to elect Bush to a second term in 2004, after he had demonstrated to all his staggering imbicility in every field of endeavor, is unquestionably dumb enough to elect McCain in November. Bush won the 2004 election on "fear," a new phenomenon in our country's history. Despite the population's distain of smarts, we were never a fearful nation. Something changed, however, and Republicans won -- and may well win again -- because people vote their fears. (To put the matter in perspective, 9/11, although cataclysmic, had only a fraction of the number of dead civilians on any night during the Second World War.) The American republic may well die, not behind closed doors per se, but simply from fear.

Leftward commenters

So far, the left has been heard from in the comments. Not the extreme left nutroots, but the Bush haters in general. It is amusing to read people's comments about the "distain" of the population. Trying to appear erudite, but not really knowing the words is priceless. Bush will be remembered historically as a near great president because of his disdain for popularity in preference to protecting America. McCain will further that trend.

Re: Leftward commenters

How do you know how Bush will be remembered? Have you been to the future? Right now he has the lowest approval rating of any President in American history. Somehow, you are able to take this super low approval rating and spin it to future greatness? How? It wont happen if historians tell the truth.

He was in charge of our security when we were attacked on 9/11. 3,000 Americans died. How is that protecting America? The attackers were Al Qeada/Taliban from Afghanistan and he takes us on a venture in Iraq..no connection. 4,000 Americans killed. How is that protecting the country when Iraqis never attacked us in the first place? He let Osama go!!! Deplorable. Border secuirty, a suposedly conservative issue..BUsh did NOTHING to secure our borders, nothing on Healthcare or public education. There has been a void in leadership for 8 long years.

Bush has destroyed this country in record time. You can vote McCain if you want to but as we have seen with Bush for 8 years there is a price we all have to pay..Right, Left and in between for Republican leadership.

Then you have rampant incompetence and corruption. Take Hurricane Katrina for instance..2000 Americans died while the Fed government did nothing.

"Take Hurricane Katrina for instance..2000 Americans died while the Fed government did nothing."

Wayne, 2000 Americans did not die during Hurricane Katrina. The official number was around 150. You are making up stats, but I am not too surprised.

"How do you know how Bush will be remembered? Have you been to the future? Right now he has the lowest approval rating of any President in American history. So you lambast a person for predicting the future, then you go and predict the future yourself. Lame.

obama for president

after reading all the comments, i have to agree no more republicaian's in white house for a long long time, lets not be fools again america, and lets not let race be an issue either, after all obama is just as much white as he is black. Are we white americans going to refuse our own race, becase of the color of thier skin? If he is capable of doing the job I say let him do it,it is time to put the past completely behind us and be a nation of one voice!

Obama

Obama is going to lose in November, he is to much of a fake and egotist.

McCain probably not winning in any of these: Virginia (13 electoral votes). In the West, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, and Oregon (24 electoral votes). In the Midwest, Indiana and Ohio (31 electoral votes).

Poll numbers

This is an OK article. It's a little of (McCain) whistling in the dark though, including states such as Oregon and Pennsylvania as McCain possibilities isn't very realistic.

There are various ways (states won) for Obama to win, as we approach November, we'll see more settled numbers that are difficult to overcome.

Even if McCain wins, he'll have 2 wars, a bad economy and Democratic-controlled House and Senate to deal with. The country is mad (angry).

McCain'll be a lame duck from Day 1.

P.S. Our country is 'dumb enough' to vote in W. Bush twice. That doesn't mean we can't collectively learn. I know about the 2000 FL and the 2004 OH votes, yet he's president and we're quietly complaining. Vote for your choice and then deal with the consequences.
