Men and women were given equal opportunity. What summers said, besides equal opportunity there will be a disparity because you are not as smart at math as your brother. He was ousted about that, not discrimination.

Who ?

Who should "fix it" if it was discovered equal opportunity was not available to both men and women ? Sounds like you want the government should do the fixing ...

Sounds more like equal outcome.

WHO KNEW?

Michael, do you mean to say that revisionist history, America hating, relativist morality, enviro wackodom, global warming hysteria and militant feminism are the result of politically correct - int0lerant thinking run amok? Poor George had the year wrong....

Equal opportunities

We've had decades of programs offering women the same opportunities as men, opportunities that were previously denied to them. And there has been success. Today, women outnumber men in American colleges...I think the percentages are around 54-46%. Yet, women continue to choose the nonsciences over the sciences. Women just don't seem to want to enter those realms as much as men do. If it's their choice, it's their choice. There's nothing to "fix".

Science and Math

The question is not if Summers is right or wrong. The answer is that women and men should be given equal opportunities to achieve. If they are not, find out why and fix it.

Speaking Truth to Power

"Summers shouldn't have said what he said, even though it was right, presumably because in his line of work—academe—you shouldn't utter truths people don't want to hear."

First they came for the college presidents, but because I was not an college professor I did not speak up...

And so it goes.

Sad? Yes. SHocking? No.

Intellectual fraud crosses ideological lines and this is a classic example of it from the academic world. There is no conception of tolerance in many colleges because intolerance has been made public enemy number one. What exactly is "intolerance?" A fantastic catchall used to defame those who express beliefs contrary to the arbiters of academic freedom. When the conclusions do not match the predetermined outcome there is much wringing of hands followed by lies and feelings instead of facts.
