Barack Obama Is Palling Around With Terrorist William Ayers

October 06, 2008 03:55 PM ET | Michael Barone | Permanent Link | Print

This New York Times story is an attempted whitewash of Barack Obama's long-time relationship with unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers. Stanley Kurtz of National Review Online explains why the article is a whitewash. Other trenchant critiques come from Abe Greenwald at Commentary's Contentions blog and Scott Johnson at PowerLine. Sarah Palin raised the issue at a Carson, Calif., rally Saturday and characterized Obama, fairly, I think, as "palling around with terrorists."

SITTING DOWN WITH A DICTATOR

BEFORE JOHN MCCAIN AND SARAH PALIN CHARACTERIZE OBAMA PALLYING AROUND WITH TERRORISTS, YOU SHOULD ASK THE SAME QUESTION TO

SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN! IN 1985 JOHN MCCAIN TRAVELED TO CHILE FOR A FRIENDLY MEETING WITH CHILE'S MILITARY RULER, GENERAL AUGUSTO PINOCHET, ONE OF THE WORLD'S NOTORIOUS VIOLATORS OF HUMAN RIGHTS CREDITED WITH THE KILLING MORE THAN 3,000 CIVILIANS AND

JAILING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHERS.

THE PRIVATE MEETING BETWEEN JOHN MCCAIN AND DICTATOR PINOCHET HAS GONE PREVIOUSLY UN-REPORTED ANYWHERE.

MCCAIN'S PRESENCE IN CHILE WAS APPARENTLY KEPT AS QUIET AS POSSIBLE. JOHN MCCAIN AND HIS WIFE CINDY ARRIVED DECEMBER 27,1985 AND TRAVELED IMMEDIATELY TO THE SCENIC PUYEHUE AREA OF SOUTHERN CHILE TO SPEND SEVERAL DAYS AS THE GUEST OF A PROMINENT PINOCHET BACKER, MARCO CARIOLA. THE TRIP WAS ARRANGED BY CHILE'S AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED STATES, HERNAN FELIPE ERRAZURIZ. ERRAZURIZ ARRANGED FOR A SPECIAL GOVERNMENT LIAISON TO HELP JOHN MCCAIN WHILE IN CHILE FOR THE "STRICTLY PRIVATE" VISIT. THIS IS THE BEST PART OF SITTING DOWN WITH A TERRORIST.

ERRAZURIZ ARRANGED THE INVITATION FOR JOHN AND CINDY MCCAIN TO

STAY AT THE FARM OF HIS WEALTHY FRIEND, MARCO CARIOLA. THE MCCAINS SPENT THE NEXT THREE AND A HALF DAYS FISHING FOR SALMON AND TROUT AND RIDING HORSES. THE AREA IS ONE OF CHILE'S MOST BEAUIFUL TOURIST ATTRACTIONS, WITH DOZENS OF CRYSTAL CLEAR LAKES AND RIVERS SURROUNDED BY LUXURIOUS ESTATES SUCH AS THE CARIOLA FARM WHERE THE MCCAINS WERE STAYING. ON DECEMBER 30, 1985 MCCAIN TRAVELED BACK TO SANTIAGO FOR A 5PM MEEETING WITH DICTATOR PINOCHET, FOLLOWED BY A MEETING WITH ADMIRAL JOSE TORIBIO MERINO, A MENBER OF THE COUNTRY'S RULING MILITARY JUNTA.

A SECOND DECLASSIFIED U.S.DIPLOMATIC CABLE REFERS TO A LETTER FROM THEN U.S. AMBASSADOR HARRY BARNES GIVING FURTHER DETAILS OF MCCAIN'S MEETING WITH PINOCHET.

OF COURSE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN PRESS OFFICE SAID NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE TO COMMENT ON THE STORY.

YOU COULD ALMOST FEEL SORRY MCCAIN, BUT THEN YOU REMEMBER THE LIES, AND THE DIVISION HE'S CAUSED AND HE SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT HIS LEGACY. HE HAD A REPUTATION AS A MAVERICK, NO HE'S GOT THE REPUTATION OF AN ANGRY ERRATIC,FEAR-MONGERING, RACE-BATING BIGOT. WHO HAS A WEIRD FETTISH FOR RETARDED, LIPSTICK WEARING PITBULL FROM ALASKA.

THINK ABOUT THE COUNTRY AS A WHOLE FOR ONCE, NOT YOUR OWN SELFISH AGENDA.

REMEMBER YOUR CAMPAIGN SLOGAN COUNTRY FIRST!!!!!!

Palin voters are also non sympathizers of known terrorists!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It Was A Good Career Move:

In January 2001, Bill Clinton pardoned Weather Underground Organization members Susan Rosenberg and Linda Evans, but he didn’t exactly advertise it. During the Vietnam War, while John McCain endured a North Vietnamese prison, a bearded “Slick Willie” also participated in "teach-ins," in the Soviet Union. He didn’t shout that from the rooftops either.

While we played by the rules, WUO member William Ayers and others tinkered with explosives. It was a good career move (for those who didn't accidentally blow themselves up): lucrative teaching positions, generous grants, and political pardons to name but a few perks followed the intact terrorists. When a candidate like Sarah Palin gets slammed for her values, and an unrepentant Bill Ayers gets lionized for acts of violence, it makes me know how far we've slid as a nation. In 1995, Bill Clinton would declare himself the “education president,” yet never talks about what he did in that capacity.
