such a sage

Wow Mr. Barone, you are always so consistently WRONG. Best to stick to your Almanac and analyze events and elections whose results are known.

Keep on Dreaming Barone -

your post my friend is mostly based on DailyKos talking points, and the rest is based on your lack of understanding of the basics of what happened recently with the economy. So please don't repeat DailyKos talking points here, and take a few minutes to think through things.

McCain puts us all in danger!

To all you parents out there would you designate in your will a person who is unfit to be a parent to become the legal guardian of your children if God forbid something happened to you? Well, 72 year old, "Country First" John McCain has done just that by his disastrous pick of Sarah Palin as his VP. It is silly, really. And we might be able to let silly slide in peaceful times but with two wars, with Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea all aiming to go nuclear, with tensions with Russia over Georgia mounting again, and China racing to start its own Space Program all while the U.S. economy is crumbling at home, SILLY IS JUST PLAIN DANGEROUS! Republicans, independents, and democrats should all unite and demand a new VP pick from John McCain, just for our own security if he should get elected. Then we need to still recognize that John McCain sacrificed the safety and well-being of our country for a hopeful block of votes! This shows serious lack of judgement in this matter. I know many people like Sarah Palin and she is likeable, but let's face it, Paris Hilton or Brittany Spears are about as qualified as she to run the country! We have few allies left in this world and our competitiveness in the world is slipping. Americans sometimes take what we have for granted but we need to remember we aren't entitled to all the resources we have in this country, we need to compete globally for them. Wake up, John McCain put us at serious risk and this is not a president we want to run the country.

Barone

Hey Barone, perhaps you should have waited a few days before posting "Democrats May Not Benfit from Economy." You know, or should know, that McCain is not psychologically stable. It was only a matter of time until the country recognized it. Wow, what a week he had. So, what say you now that his poll numbers are in free fall. Next up? Palin in a debate. That will provide enough laughs to carry us all the way to election day.

Economic Situation In the U. S. A.

By: Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environmrnt.

The Wall Street is currently continuing its drastic collapse and there is no light can be seen at this tunnel to Hell. Much of the U. S. economic problems are related to their current election. The following are my perspective to the the current economic situation in the United States:

(1) The current stock market collapse may be artificial which was cause by Blacks who want to create sight of economic downturn to force Americans to elect Barack Obama for a solution of their problems. Small investment groups of minorities could short sale in the stock market to bring about drastic Wall Street collapse.

(2) The U. S. housing could be caused by Black who might have relocated to other states and live with relatives and friends to generate favorable electoral environment and vote counts according to percentages of state population. This is to help Obama in their election. So there is a possibility that the housing crisis could be resolved after the election.

(3) The housing crisis was cause by the White people also for favorable election outcomes in a particular state. This is similar to situation number (2). In general, the American political system is now proven to be a great failure which has and will continue to affect the well being of Worldwide economy for long term. Whenever there is a election, one side always need to create economic downturn to blame on the incumbent government. Also, a change of governing party will create instability and insecurity to invite terrorist attacks such as the September 11, 2001 disaster. The U. S. should adopted new form of political system and learn from the Chinese before it is too late. Communism Chinese style is the best political system.

(4) On the other hand, the American economic crisis could be real and there will be no solutions in sight and the Great Depression II is imminent. So Environment help us!

Obama Glue Sniffers

My advice to all you Obama glue-sniffers is this: Bend over and grab your ankles because if Obama gets elected, He's going to break it off in your (beep), and I'll be here to say I told you so.

Taxes are a neccessary evil.

I am so sick of hearing about how people don't want to pay taxes. Of course noone wants to pay taxes, but everyone wants to have social services such as police protection, fire departments and hospitals right? Well then we will need taxes. Look I think the main problem the American public runs into is they think that we somehow live a medieval society where all the taxes collected are going into the personal caufers of the politicians pushing for tax hikes, but it doesn't work that way. The tax revenue goes to fund government programs such as the highway system, the military, our schools and universities, and entitlement programs, which only account for 60 billion dollars of our currently 6 trillion dollar debt. So unless we are willing to privatize everything, which obviously we are not, then we are going to have to have taxes. So stop complaining because they have to be hiked to meet the rising price of funding our government.

McCain McCan't

8yrs. of republicans in the white house and you say the democrats are responsible for the mess, WAKE UP America is right! real change is now BARACK OBAMA.......

Thank you

Thank you Mr. Barone for a very informative article.

In a media full of one-sided leftist slant, it's refreshing to see a perspective that dares to look at the issues from a different angle.

Not many columnists in the nation's leading publications would dare to deconstruct Obama's stance (the results are messier than one would expect..), to the effect that he essentially became the media's favorite, his statements being taken at face value.

Every side needs to be examined and questioned, and it is precisely the kind of sober analysis and assessment displayed in this column that accounts for my decade-long (and counting) subscription to US News.

To "ProfKeith of IN":

This article was in fact written for publication in this week's US News magazine, so your complaint about the absence of hyperlinking in the said article is comical at best.

THE ECONOMY

PAULSON MUST BE INSANE TO ASK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO PUT UP

$700 BILLION WITH FEW STRINGS ATTACHED, AND LITTLE OR NO ACCOUNTABILITY. UNDER THIS ARRANGEMENT, I PREDICT THAT QUITE A BIT OF THIS WILL VANISH DOWN A BLACK HOLE.

AS TO GOLDEN PARACHUTES, I SAY "NO" TO REWARDING THOSE WHO HAVE

SHOWN RARE INGENUITY IN RUNNING OUR ECONOMY INTO THE GROUND.

I DO NOT BLAME THE FOREIGN HOLDERS OF OUR DEBT INSTRUMENTS FOR

REFUSING TO RISK ANOTHER CENT; OUR PRACTICES WITH DERIVATIVES

AT HOME AND ABROAD IS OUTRIGHT FRAUD.
