To comment regarding Down Syndrome Baby

I guess you didn't realize that children with special needs are disabled and therefore qualify for additional health coverage/financial coverage. The programs are in place and have been helping families for years.

The law includes special provisions for any individual (including a child) signing up for SSI disability whose condition is so severe that they are presumed to be disabled. In such cases SSI benefits are paid for up to six months while the formal disability decision is being made. Following are some of the disability categories under which evaluators can presume the child is disabled and make immediate SSI payments: HIV infection, blindness, deafness (in some cases), Cerebral Palsy (in some cases), Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy (in some cases), significant mental deficiency, diabetes (with amputation of one foot), amputation of two limbs or amputation of leg at the hip. If special payments are made and it is later decided that the child's disability is not severe enough to qualify for SSI, the benefits do not have to be paid back.

In addition, schools already have programs for children with disabilities.

No doubt Ms. Palin will work hard to help others as her record has already shown.

to of

What about all the illegals milking our system getting free healthcare for their multiple children, which I'm sure some of them have special needs as well. I suppose that's ok.

Should Palin have aborted her child bcs. he was special needs and it would be more costly to keep him. It's a good thing you don't have a special needs child.

And...maybe you can explain why your Democratic lead congress has managed to screw everything up in 2 years and Pelosi has the lowest approval rating EVER in the HISTORY of congress.

the person who blogged before me is obviously in favor of having the right to butcher any child that may grow in her own womb as well as marry his/her gay lover in the eyes of god, lol. If that's not already a curse i don't know what is. The real problems of these people come from within. Instead of feeling repressed, they should realize they need to act as adults and be responsible for their actions like getting pregnant as well as understanding marriage is an institution under God. If they want to be with their homosexual lover for life, call is something else like a union rather than bash the religions by crying for the right to marry.

people can spin it anyway they want, but what it boils down to is socialism(a giant nanny state) vs free trade and the ability to stand up to any bullies around the world.

socialist countries have had an overwhelming history of making concessions to tyrant nations, while profoundly democratic countries will stand up for themselves and weaker nations.

i am not in any way rich and i can barely afford health care right now, but i do not want a nanny state where state sponsered health care is shoved down my throat at the much heavier cost than anyone can comprehend. My biggest fear would be the drop in quality of care as well as giving government one more thing to have their hands in. Republican or democratic, there are crooks in both groups and you can guarantee massive under-the-table monies in exchange for more bad policy. The best way to control our problems is by controlling the powers and size of government. Vote for OJT Obama if you want to see: government radically grow in size, massive tax hikes on more than just the rich, and our country kneel before radical nations.

Can anyone answer

I was just counterpointing

The guy who mentioned that McCain has never opposed the republicans.....

Common Sense, sounds like it's time for your meds.

and Mike of OH, 4 years ago Zel Miller (a Democrat) spoke at the Republican convention. Miller outlined everything that John Kerry was against, ending with his famous line:

This is the man who wants to be the commander in chief of our U.S. Armed Forces?

U.S. forces armed with what? Spit balls?

Obama is worse than John Kerry! He will disarm America - he said it - watch the video here: http://macsmind.com/wordpress/2008/06/08/obama-wants-to-protect-america/

HMMMMM

I thought it wsa John McCain who spoke at the democratic convention 4 years ago

Some people asked what McCain ever did to disagree with other Republicans. I think they missed the part of the Convention where his opposing the US Marine deployment to Beirut was mentioned. He also opposed President George W. Bush on the tax cuts because he wanted spending cuts put in as well.

And as for the shot at someone for having a baby with Downs, I have worked in Special Education. Shame on you for saying that as a punchline. There are services available to the disabled in every state, and there is a lot more to deal with than just funding, it is 24/7 and it is a lifetime commitment for an entire family. It is not something to be insulted. To target the child as some have, especially with the rumors people have spun about Palin's youngest son, is despicable and beyond the pale.

Fred Thompson is a HOLE!!!

Wow..i'll be darned. The WalMart crowd is out again. This time they just discovered a mediocre former miss Alaska pageant contestant to be their savior.

Republicans are geniuses. They get the less educated, less informed voters all stirred up when they raise a flag, a gun, a baby and sing 'God Bless America'. Gotta give it to them.

BOOOHOOOOO, his name is Hussein!!! We're all under attack.

You conservatives/Republicans make the KKK look like the ACLU.

Every time, our nation aims at making a positive leap into the future, the same old holdouts come crawling out of their graves. These same people opposed the abolition of slaves, opposed voting rights for minorities and opposed the right of women to vote. It's the lunatic fringe that spews post rational misconceptions of American patriotism.

Last night, Fred Thompson was stirring the lunatic Kool-Aid so fast, i could hear the gang getting saddled up for war. No wonder Fred keeps clearing his throat. Every word that comes out his mouth is garbage.

BOOOHOOOOOO, Barack Hussein Obama...let's run...it's a Black man named Hussein....Gimme a Break!!!

Ignorant PIGS!!!

I, too, will be voting Republican for the first time in my life.

The first thing that caught my attention was the complete bias the media has towards Obama.

The second thing that caught my attention was the complete bias the media has against Sarah Palin.

This really is outrageous, scandalous and unforgiveable.

My parents always watched the evening news, but in today's world, it isn't news, it is slanted opinions.

I am outraged over the unfair treatment Mrs. Palin has been given these past few days.

I have heard Obama's experience called into question prior to last Friday, and the media completely ignored it. Now they are trying to make experience an issue for Palin.

You can't have it both ways, guys (and gals). It really makes me wonder what you seem to be working so hard at to cover up for Obama.

Your shameful actions were the last straw. I will go into the voting booth in November and vote for Palin. (McCain gets a free ride)

Cry babies

I believe that the left is terrified of Palin. Why else would they and the media try and tear her apart like they are. Like Obama she is making history, but only the left wacko's are acting like the big cry babies they are every day of their lives
