I'm not sure what this says about Obama, if anything, but I really don't think Obama is a terrorist, despite the similarity of his name to Osama. If you interact with a lot of people, some of them are probably left wing radicals. I don't have a problem with that. Now if I here Obama publicly praise Mr. Ayers for his actions as a terrorist I would be disturbed, but that has not happened.
I am disturbed by McCain publicly supporting the war in Iraq.

I've donated money to the Boys and Girls club. While doing this, I've meet another father who happens to be an ex-gang member. We've tlked from time to time and he also donates money to the same club. Does this make me a bad guy?, can I not run for office based on this? WOW!... it's a cold world

As this whole Ayers “connection” is founded on the idea that “character counts,” let’s have some fun with this. Here’s what George W. Bush would be saying about John Sidney McCain’s character if he were running against him:
McCain believes in miscegenation—he “adopted” (hint, hint) a Negro child.
McCain lives with a drug addict.
McCain was once brought up on profanity charges for shouting obscenities at women who refused to date him.
McCain’s years in solitary confinement as a prisoner of war fostered a dangerous instability and paranoia in the man.
McCain crashed numerous navy planes during his lackluster military career—all paid for by Joe the taxpayer—but was allowed to keep flying because of his Admiral father.
McCain was passed over for promotion—despite his father’s connections—because he was so incompetent an officer they could not risk putting him in charge of more servicemen.
McCain fled the scene of his greatest naval disaster, the explosion of his plane on the deck of the carrier U.S.S. Forrestal, doing nothing to fight the fire, which eventually claimed the lives of 134 brave servicemen and injured 161 more. He did not even remain on board to help mourn the loss of his fallen comrades but headed off to Saigon for R & R and quickly asked for a transfer to another carrier—but not before holidaying in the South of France to show his patriotism.
McCain revealed more than name, rank and serial number at his interrogations, giving the North Vietnamese detailed information which helped them shoot down additional American pilots and damage the overall mission.
McCain contributed directly to the death of more American servicemen than enemy combatants during his entire military career.
McCain’s years in solitary confinement as a prisoner of war fostered a dangerous instability and paranoia in the man.
McCain is an adulterer, carrying on a lengthy affair with the wealthy daughter of a convicted felon before finally abandoning his wife and three children—prompting President Reagan and his wife Nancy to publicly side with his abused spouse.
McCain’s philandering ways have continued—lobbyist Vicki Iseman the latest notch on his belt—whose campaign contributions (via her clients) to the McCain campaign could make her one of the Highest Paid Whores in History.
Now which of these charges would you like to:
A) Refute
B) Deny
C) Claim statue of limitations (“That was long ago, etc., etc.)
D) Change the subject and attack Obama
E) Change the subject and attack me

Now if you think the above questions have no place in American Politics and the American Voter doesn’t “need to know” about these allegations then go gently into that good night with this whole Bill Ayers nonsense.

A wonderful article. I live in Chicago, and Mr. Barone is right on about the Daley Machine, or, as I like to call it, the Daley Mainframe, what with computers and all; the smokestacks are almost all gone, thus no more machine. I digress. I esepecially like the line by Bill Daley: "Our father always told us that when a group was big enough to control a ward, we should pay attention to them." Knowing the local dialect, allow me to write the unsanitized version of what Billy Daley probably said: "Are fadder always told us dat when a group was big enough to control a ward, we should pay attention to dat group, infiltrate dat group, take over dat group, but always let dat group tink dat dey are really runnin tings."
With few exceptions, the Chicago press likes and protects the Daleys, so nautrally they clean up their language, trying to make them sound smarter than they actually are.

You stupid people will care about what he has done when you realize that all his friends, college roommates, etc are tied to Iraq and Syria. DO YOUR HOMEWORK FOOL!!!! The man wants to take all of our defenses down. I agree some of the money being spent on war, etc., could probably be curtailed. Almost always things come up about candidates running for presidency but this man has a big brown garbage bag full. Instead of worrying about gas you had better be worrying about who he really is and that you do not end up living under some regime. This guy has tooo much dirty laundry. Where do you think all the money is coming from he has gotten for his campaign. Wake up you ignorant bunch of idots. One thing right after the other is coming out about this man AND IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD!!! You will not have to worry about gas when you are out on the street hiding and sleeping anywhere you can because American has been taken over.

This is not about Guilt-by-association., much as it would appear to be so on first glance. This is, rather, about guilt-by-assimilation. It is, specifically, about whether Obama, in his quest to be popular in Chicago, and by extension, Illinois, "Drank Ayer's radical Kool-Aid" when it suited him to do so, and discarded the trapping of it, while still believing the essentials, later, when it suited him to appear more mainstream, in order to his aspirations for move on to national leadership. Ayers is the same man who, David Horowitz, in his seminal book "The ProFessors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics In America" said wanted to get white radials to "shed their 'white skin privilege' to aid third world peoples in plundering the ill-gotten wealth of the United States. Ayers summed up the nihilism of Weathermen's ideology as follows: 'Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments Bring the revolution home; kill your parents.' " And in the event that Obama even bought in a little bit to the share-the-wealth-with-the-Third-World part of Ayers's Kool-Aid, well...Can we afford that as a nation, at this trying time?! I'll leave the rest as an exercise to the student.

The Weathermen were despicable. Admitedly they were a very different kinds of terrorist than McVeigh or Bin Ladin. But being careful to only damage unoccupied buildings and making sure you never hurt people doesn’t make it ok to protest Vietnam with explosives and damage government property. Vandalism is a form of terrorism too and that is exactly what they did. How can he write a whole book condemning terrorism and not realize that?

so I know the paper misquoted him on September 11th and he expressed regret over his violent approach.
So what. He still committed those acts. He can spend all day helping children now but only by accepting JESUS CHRIST can you repent and be saved.
