Racism

Badtux of LA's claim that, "Obama polls poorly where racism is still rampant" would lead one to the conclusion that if you're not for Obama you must be a racist.

Rather obsurd on its face, but then liberal logic can seldom withstand scrutiny.

"Old Northwest" Territory

You were incorrect about most of the states comprising the Northwest Territory. These were the states that came out of the Old Northwest Territory: Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Dump McCain!!

John McCain is going to get steamrolled on November 4th by an empty suit (Obama), and there is really nothing that McCain can do to iron out the wrinkles in his own already “empty suit”.

I, being someone who will not "pick flies out of sh*t" in my choice for a presidential candidate, neither McCain nor Obama is qualified for our nations' most important job. McCain will have to choose a real dope for his running mate in order to prevent being overshadowed and having his lack of substance revealed.

The best thing that we can do is NOT nominate him at all and choose Ron Paul instead at the GOP convention in September!! Ron Paul is more than qualified, has a plan that will work and will lead our nation honorably. Ron Paul can raise the money, get people excited and has the best chance of beating Obama of all the other Republican candidates. The GOP would be foolish not to nominate Ron Paul! This will also explain why Ron Paul’s “ Rally for the Republic “ will most definitely overshadow John McCain’s presumptive nomination at the dull Republican National Convention down the street.

It's not too late to admit that McCain is a bad choice and to remedy the situation. If no one is excited about McCain now, they surely won't be two months from now. Get the geezer out now so we won't have a 1996 repeat of Bob Dole! McCain can't win if he doesn't have the support of the conservative base and nothing is going to change that, plain and simple! There will not be a last minute reprieve by disgruntled Republicans this time around to save him when most people are finally rejecting the worn-out lesser of two evils argument. If McCain remains as the nominee until November, he will destroy the Republican Party and run its members out to most likely join the Libertarian or Constitution Party, or simply drop out of the voting process all together. This wouldn't necessarily be a bad scenario as long as these people are not continuing to do the same thing that yields the same bad results. It’s time to “Dump McCain”!!

vote for obama or you are racist

to the hardcore libs, there are two types of conservatives, the ones who admit they are racist, and the ones who lie about not being racist.

yet they dont see the irony when the libs howl at conservatives seeking to paint them as either truly soft on national security, or lying about not being soft of national security.

but the truth is, to be a modern american liberal is to see racism and sexism as fundamental laws permeating nature, second only to gravity.

excellent article!

Scales and Daniel David

I seem to have hit a nerve. Truly sorry if you were "personally offended", was not my intent. And Scales, I assure you that I do believe judgement is reserved to God and God alone. My comment was more discernment. For me to say "Barack Obama is going to hell" would be judgement in the sense you are talking about. For me to assess his stances (being pro-abortion for example) and the fact that he claims as his "spiritual mentor" a man who is an militant racist and who used the sunday Pulpit to utter a sermon containing the words "God Damn America" is not judgmental, it is discerning. I can take the content of Obama's actions and words and stances and then make an intelligent judgment as to whether he is playing the "faith card" in an effort to lure votes. That is my opinion.

Please don't confuse the two, and you both are out of line trying to brand me as a racist (as you libs do every time someone dares disagree with a prominent black man or the so called "black agenda"). YOu are correct in your assertion that true judgment of ALL PEOPLE belongs to God alone, but Obama's views, actions, and words, and his tight knit bond with the "Reverend" Wright call his faith into serious question in my eyes (and in the eyes of a lot of reasonable people). So does the fact that he has a Muslim name and was raised by a militantly Muslim father. Try the reverse scenario: If you had a guy named Bill who was raised by a fundamentalist Christian parent and close ties to a nutjob cleric, would you questiion his motives if he all of the sudden declared himself to be a strong Muslim and try to seek a position of high power in the middle east? If you are going to be honest, I think you would.

Scales, I see your rationale from a mile away too. You were "raised around religious people" who (we can assume from your tone) looked down on you and offended you with their hypocrisy. I am sorry about that. But make no mistake, whatever bad experience you had with the church that is continuing to bother you to this day, the people who turned you off are responsible for their own actions on judgement day, just like I am, and just like YOU are too. I'll bet you also knew a lot of great, God loving good hearted people at church too. Funny how you chose to ignore the way they touched your lives and focus on the hypocrisy instead. Why is that? Perhaps you are the one who needs to "search inside yourself... to acknowledge what you really are". Best of luck finding peace. And if you want to debate, I'm good with that. But don't throw the tired old "racist" or "closed minded right wing extremist" card around. Aside from being invalid in my case, you libs need to find some new material. You're like a bad football coach, running the same plays you've been running for 30 years. Eventually, people figure you out.

rascism? duh

a vote for mccain is not a vote for rascism.

the democrats will be embarassed in november if they continue to believe this election is about social issues.

it's about the economy and globalization!

the bleeding heart Libs can whine all they want, but the more they try and make people feel guilty about not voting for obama-rama based on the color of his skin, the more they alienate swing voters.

it is rascist to vote FOR obama-rama because of his skin color.

Well, demsarelosing, at least you apologize for the embarrassment of your guy McCain. But why don't you give consideration to the idea that God might have raised up someone you would WANT to vote for?

In fact, He did. Obama is there for you and you're resisting.

WHY?

It's not about Obama's race, it's about him as a man. He has surrounded himself throughout his life with people who preach or act upon hatred of the USA until he began his run for president. Then he was forced to reject them one by one as we went along and they were discovered. The press has practically given him a free ride on this and have questioned his values little more than superficially. There should be a lot more focus on who he associated with in the last ten years and what they stand for. However, to do so would be considered racist or character assasination as far as he's concerned. It's not fair game to evaluate him as a person beyond the words he uses to describe himself and his visions during the campaign.

Simply put, Obama's an empty suit making up stuff and dodging his past, unlike McCain who has proven himself over time and has nothing to be ashamed of. All else being equal, if McCain was ten years younger he'd be killing Obama in the polls. Yes, ageism is running against John big time. Lets hope he can overcome it for the sake of our 401Ks. Obama's tax and spend and energy policies will ruin wall street.

You want change with Obama, be careful what you wish for.
