McCain undercut

Once more the Repubs show a tin ear for politics, the new gang of Repub senators are undercutting the issue by their alliance with Dem senators. This will get the Dems off the hook.

IMO, the Dems have an agenda. They sincerely believe that the US and its successful economy are unsustainable for a global population, bad the environment and morally wrong, etc. They literally wish to choke off the economy. (If this causes everyone to be assigned gov't jobs so much the better and that much easier to sustain a Dem gov't).

The Repubs are unwilling to speak with one voice to urge a strong US standard of living. And of course other countries are not willing to sign up for this sort of policy in their nation. So it matters little what the US does...except that the US can hurt itself.

Media Is Not Reporting All Facts

Republicans refusing to sign a bill with additional controls for speculators is one of the major reasons Nancy held up the vote.

Last week Reuters and the financialtimes.com reported that CFTC quietly released a new report about finding a large increase in oil speculation at NYMEX. According to the articles the numbers were huge in relation to open interest.

Go to Sen Maria Cantwell's website for more information.

How about a factual review of the World Oil Market and the relationsip to addition drilling?

How about an article about the cost of building nuclear power plants, including the expense of handling the waste? Europe is having serious second thougts about nuke power.

What's Not To Understand?

It is not an "energy" issue. It is a transportation issue: Moving people and goods from one place to another.

Imported oil is used as fuel for the internal combustion engine.

Brazil took the hint from the Jimmy Carter speech of July 15, 1979 (google it) and is today totally independent of imported oil--using many flex fuel vehicles manufactured by Ford!

Alternative renewable fuel sources can be developed in many countries besides Brazil--if major commitments by the governments are made and persisted in as prices fluctuate and technologies are developed.

Persistance is the key word. Cheap imported oil got us hooked before. Cheap imported ethanol or hydrogen or whatever could get us hooked on imported fuels again.

The alternative renewable fuels must be developed and maintained at home to be successful in making us independent of TRANSPORTATION fuels.

We have adequate "energy". It is self sufficient fuels for the internal combusion engine that we need.

The old Republican dirty tricks

John McCain is confused, showing signs of dementia and is mindlessly spouting dirty politics talking points from corrupt Republicans. Another four years of Bush would totally destroy our country and this is what the American people would get with McCain. For the sake of our country, we must make sure that Barack Obama is elected President.

Hooplah

McCain would not "stand to benefit" from the energy issue if USNWR and the other press would tell the real story. Oil peaked at $147 because of speculation and now is back down to $115 because of speculators with long positions now in fear of losing their shirts.

THIS, not offshore drilling or ANWR drilling, is the story.
