What Would Make a Clinton Popular Vote Lead Legitimate?

emotion vs. logic

These are the only cities that matter and were won by less than 8% of the state vote:

2004 Bush Margin (State)

Miami 5

Tampa 5

Orlando 5

Pittsburgh -2.6

Las Vegas 2.5

Jacksonville, Fla. 5

Cleveland 2

Cincinnati 2

Seattle** -7.4

Columbus, Ohio 2

Detroit -3.5

Philadelphia -2.6

St. Louis 7

Portland, Ore. -4.2

Milwaukee -0.4

Denver ** 4.5

Minneapolis** -3.5

The electoral process is a narrow numbers game (who cares how many blacks voted for Obama in San Antonio or New Orleans...those cities are in states that are irrelevant to the electoral game), and Hillary does the best in cities that are in key battleground states, Florida, Ohio Nevada and Pennsylvania. Consider other key states like Michigan, Minnesota and Colorado and you have to ask yourself which candidate would do best against McCain in these states. Hillary is the overwhelming answer to all but maybe Colorado and Minnesota. Barone is absolutely right. If this was about which candidate put the party in the best position to win a national election, the primary process would be over, and it wouldn't be Obama.

Also consider, by choosing Obama, the Democrats effectively undercut the candidate with the strongest institutional ties to the Hispanic vote in key Southwestern states, like Nevada, New Mexico and even California (-10% Bush margin with Latinos making up a large percentage of the State). If McCain can swing just a small percentage of Latinos (40% - 44%) like Bush did, the game is over. Blacks simply don't live in large enough numbers that can swing any of the key states and their impact on a national election (whether it be Obama or Clinton) is predictable and weak. Obama is a poor choice, but political choices need not be logical ones.

The other consideration that comes to mind is, how likely will we see another Black candidate if Obama loses? By putting a weak black candidate in this position, I think future legitimate black candidates will be harmed, but then high-brow whites care more about their own feeling than actually helping black politicians win power.

I know why the Clintonistas deride caucus voters

But why do you?

The Democrat Death March to November

The Democrats are on a Death March to November, whether it is Clinton or Obama. As for Obama, there are already key indicators --- which the media overlooks or ignores, and there will be a lot more to come in what is a very fluid situation -- that show he won't even be the nominee at the August convention. In its arrogance, abysmal ignorance, guilt and collective suicide, the Democratic Party either thinks a majority of the country will send a Clinton back to the White House, or send an amateur with no resume and questionable friends and who came up in the grubby politics of the nation's most corrupt city to the White House. It is a political party that has become dumb as a rock. Let the Death March continue.

It is all over for Hillary

After this latest lulu, she has buried herself. "Will no one rid me of this meddlesome peon?" Hillary Clinton's Ivy League education at Wellesley and Yale taught her Shakespeare's Henry II, but nothing of humanity, or she would not expect her affliction of politics to be apology enough for constantly raising the possibility of assassination as her path to power.

I previously thought the original premise, "Here I am you lucky voters!" and other repeated blunders of her campaign were the fault of professional campaigners like Mark Penn and not Hillary herself. Now after she has fired so many people, through these many months, I do believe she is running her campaign. For someone that is so smart in the normal use of the term, her judgment is amazingly poor. Thank God she'll never get to run the country because we have barely survived the King of screw ups and don't need to follow him with the queen.

Clinton Good!

Me like Hillary! She good tricker ha ha! Say sniper shoot her. Say she a woman but Carville say she got three testicles! She make better President than Bush. She find weapons mass deduction. She trick! Funny funny Hillary Clinton. Bill funny too! Say no sex with woman. Ha ha! Come back to White House Clintons. You funny!

I like these analyses. I wonder if you have heard anything about the Crystal Dixon case in Ohio (

http://rasmusen.org/t/2008/05/crystal-dixon-free-speech-case-at-u-of.html)-- an outspoken Chrisitan black woman university vice president fired for writing a newspaper op-ed hostile to homosexuality. Will the Republicans make use of this? What is going on there? What position would Obama and Clinton take on this case?

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!

Are you on crack???!!!! You actually think giving Hillary over 300,000 of the popular vote in Michigan and Obama 0 votes even though his name wasn't on the ballot is legitimate??!!! Do you think you are making an argument to school aged children? At least respect the fact that we are thinking adults. This kind of analysis insults our intelligence. Come on now, you really can't believe this yourself!!

Ms Clinton get out so, we can get on.

About the endurance and complexity of being a president put forth by the media is a big joke when it comes to a black man. A black man has to do an even better job than all the other president because he would be proud to do so, because it his the highest office in the nation.

With all the crap and mess through the years that blacks have had to endure for decades. What in the world would make them think that Obama would not be capable. White folks have been made rich and educated on the backs of blacks. Blacks have been mother and fathers to white babies, black have sweated from sun up to sun down had out-lived whites. Black have been rediculed and stepped on for decades. This is why whites are angered . Most whites could NOT have endured what blacks go through on a daily basis. The capabilty and endurance is joke where blacks are concerned.

Now for Mr Michael B. You needs to suck on a hard boiled egg.

You cannot squeze orange juice out of tomato. The legitimate winner throughout the entire count on whatever way it's bassed on is Obama. Sure we can see how the powers that be would like to steel the election. Remember Goer , that election was stolen in Florida. Ray Charles saw that comming. She has not won the primary in any way. She is two faced. She thought this was a landslide, and chose to agreed to ignore the voters in Michigan and Florida. Ms Clinton just new she could win without counting them in . But was in for a rude awakening.

All in a sudden she found herself between the devil and the deep blue sea and decided let me take the devils side and get those deligates and thier votes after all. Then she plejurized and tried calling on the same folks she chose to ignore in the first place.

She is the big "B" of a sore looser. She made sure this was dragged on, that way she continually poured out her venom. She is vendictive.

So does everyone think the Kennedy comment was unintended?. We all know it was intentional. Americans are jsut tired of forgiving her for her downright nastiness and so called miss-speakings.

Get real, whatever she represents accordint to herself, women , feminist or the best long drawn out primary. This will go down in history as the a woman on a mission to pull down so that she can step on and over any and everyone. We also will not forget Mr Clinton and the race card, while his wife played the white card with W.V's

Bill Clinton is not running for president. So what the hell does it matter what he did for blacks. Ms Clinton has done absolutely nothing, "NOTHING" for blacks and if she did, so, we should kiss their A" s forever?

The amount of crap that.s been done to blacks, it's about time whites do some good, because it is not in their nature to do good for blacks.

All the other candidates have constituents who wanted them to continue. What makes Mrs. Clinton’s a different type of candidate is he ego

Thank you Alexandria

This is why Obama leads with educated voters. They see Hillary for what she is. A power grabbing chameleon I'm so thankful that he came along when he did to offer people a clear choice. He is better positioned to win in Nov. then she is and can move this country in a new direction. All he has to do is provide the same integrity, issue based campaign and get heard.

I think this is going to be a good election!
