Will the Democratic Race End on May 21?

too bad the popular vote doesn't count
If the popular vote was the metric the nomination there would be no cacuases.
Your entire artical is crazy! It is a giant "what if".
What if the rules were different....Hillary might be winning.
The rules are the rules for Hillary, Florida and Michigan. Everyone wants the deligates seated including Obama....BUT lets not fool ourselves. Hillary did not care about Florida or Michigan UNTIL SHE LOST!
Obamarrogance=Obamalienators
Obama supporters seem to think Clinton supporters are "required" to vote for the eventual Democratic nominee. While Hillary may have such a political obligation, no individual who decides to cast a vote is required to follow suit. Just because they supported her does not mean they support her (required) anticipated "endorsement" of Obama. Only the arrogant Obama alienators are naive enough to believe that they can strong-arm the support of Clintonites by accusing them of racism or vindictiveness or being "sore losers". These misguided braggarts who cheer the pledged delegate total with chants such as "Ding! Dong! The witch is dead!" don't seem to have a clue that they're adding fuel to the fire that will torch their eloquent speaker. No, Clinton supporters aren't required to vote for Obama or McCain; they're not even required to vote. Any claims that Clinton supporters will be responsible for the downfall of Democrats (or The World!) if they don't vote Obama is an insult to each individual's right to make their own personal choice, free of party restrictions, at the anonymous ballot box. If Obama is as worthy as his flocks gush, he should have no trouble winning even a three-way election with Hillary as an independent. Of course, if he didn't win such an election, they'd blame it on Hillary instead of his own shortcomings...
Hillary and Sexism
America has more sexists than racists. This is pretty clear in this election. Women have been held down for 232 years. If Hillary is not on the ticket, I vote for McCain and so do my friends (feminists and real men).
The DEMS who are used to using sexism and then saying, "Oh we have to unite, have screwed themselves this time." The DEMS usually do. Idiots.
Whose getting the last laugh guys? Hey Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman. Whose laughing last?
Ridiculous
Clintonistas are beginning to rival Republicans in their abilities to divorce themselves from reality.
Obama has raised more money, brought in more new voters, WON more pledged delegates, superdelegates, states and popular votes than Hillary Clinton, is not in DEBT like Hillary Clinton and has run a better campaign than Hillary Clinton, by every conceivable metric.
What, exactly, is 'electability' measured by? Clinton loyalty? Self-delusion?
Answer me this; Obama allegedly cannot defeat McCain, but Hillary cannot defeat Obama, so why should we pick Hillary when she CAN'T beat the guy who allegedly can't beat John?
I hope you monsters all move out of this country when Obama is PRESIDENT. People like you ruin America.
Good article; well written.
The commentators here making the "point" that Mr. Barone is apparently only counting the MI popular vote for Hillary Clinton seem to be barking up the wrong tree.
In most analyses, Senator Clinton counts her votes, and "uncommitted" all goes to Barack Obama as he's now the only candidate left standing.
In addition, the Obama campaign had robocalls going into Michigan urging people to "vote uncommitted." Hardly "not campaigning," which they'd pledged not to do.
In Florida, as others have pointed out, it was the Republican Party-run Statehouse that wanted the primaries moved up; the Democratic Party of Florida tried hard to stop it, but was overruled. Why should the voters there be penalized?
John Edwards coming on board the Obama campaign was a cheap shot -- by both Obama and Edwards. It made this ex-Edwards supporter very sad; he's a politician like any other, but to pile on and refuse to remain neutral for three more weeks -- shocking. Sad. Frustrating. Disheartening.
And by Edwards doing this, his votes in Florida -- 19% of the people there voted for Edwards -- would get counted for Obama. Which means Obama will look better.
I find that disgraceful.
Finally, Obama had campaign commercials going out over the air on cable news networks, and then complained -- mildly -- when the commercials went into Florida.
That means he campaigned there, as well as in Florida -- and Senator Clinton did not.
I am disgusted with the mainstream media in general, but I appreciate Mr. Barone for telling it like it is.
Senator Obama doesn't have a prayer in the general election, and any "dream" he has of a "new coalition" won't work. Jesse Jackson (Sr.) should've told him -- when you form a "Rainbow Coalition," you first work with the one that's already there, and build on it. You don't throw out the traditional Democratic base, and insist that only students, liberal elites (aka "eggheads") and African-Americans matter. Because they'll never support you in enough numbers to make up for the disgusted rest of the party -- who definitely feels "thrown under the bus."
Hillary Clinton is the best candidate; she's smart, she's focused, she has good solutions, and she knows all the world leaders already. They respect her. They know what she's made of -- and they'll trust her to get the job done, just as at least half the Democratic Party does. She's peaking right now -- while Obama peaked in February.
Superdelegates -- you are hooking your political futures to the wrong candidate, and you are doing a grave disservice to this country.
Barack Obama is too young, too inexperienced, too immature, and has said some very questionable things -- further, I don't approve of his frat-boy followers (the "Iron My Shirt" crowd, those idiots showing up at Hillary Clinton's rallies with dumb slogans like that and "Bros before Hos" and the like), I don't approve of his turning his back on Senator Clinton at the State of the Union, and I don't approve of him "brushing (her) off his shoulders" (a la the rapper Jay-Z), either.
This is a man who believes it's OK to bomb Pakistan, an ally.
This is a man who doesn't want to defend Israel, an ally, in the event of Iran attacking Israel -- and has excoriated Senator Clinton for saying, quite rightly, that she would defend our allies.
Senator Clinton has more Generals and Admirals in her corner than Barack Obama does, and for good reason. She's the better bet; she will fix the country, while Obama might be able to do a slight amount of good if he starts putting the people first, and himself dead last.
Please, folks. Get the DNC to realize that Senator Obama is flat unelectable as he stands, and is getting more unelectable all the time. They must see reason.
Or we'll have four years of McCain.

Note -- I hope this posts. I had to try three times. Apologies if it triple-posts.
Obama Vs Clinton
As a observer from another country which are multi racial.
Obama is at the advantae side for this campaign,
1) All black will vote for him as a race ego.
2) All he need to do is to convince the white
3) Statiscally to do that is easy , all my campaign should be targeting on the selected group only.
Whereby Clinton's challenge
1) Try to get all the women ( white only ). Almost impossible to recruit black woman. Too bad Obama is handsome enough to charm white female too. In this group Clinton might win 60 : 40
2) Men to rules under a woman? 50 : 50
3) Campaign money to spend on all groups with lesser campaign fund.
From just the 3 main points , Obama has to win big like at least 70 : 30 to prove i m wrong about my view above.
But
In fact, is not the case. He is not winning big. What does that mean?
If he is not black, he will lose.
So this is pretty much a race game.
Balck man and woman will definitely support Obama regardless what campaign he runs.
White men depends on how Obama runs the campaign.
White women depends.
So all i wanted to say to Clinton is WELL DONE. Really a good fight that you have put up for this Election.
Obama has no mo
Obama, the apparent nominee is getting his butt beaten in the last few months, he lost Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia and won North Carolina and Guam? This is the front runner? He obviously can't close it out. His media pals keep pushing him as the inevitable and they are doing their best to try and close the deal for him, but he is losing contest after contest. He's going to get crushed in Kentucky, possibly squeeze out a win in Oregon and get crushed again in Puerto Rico. Not what you would call a strong finish. Hillary has every right to claim victory if Michigan and Florida are counted. she's won the popular vote, won the most primaries and will be very tight in pledged delegates. Obama's caucus victories are weak and his trouncing in the states that matter in the general further prove that he is a weak general election candidate. He cannot win Florida and makes New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania a close race.
Thankfully an article that tells it like it is. This thing simply is not over. Whose fault that is, doesn't really matter. The race is still too close to call and completely in the hands of the Democratic powers that be. Let's see what they do. My bet is that they go with Obama even though it makes me ashamed of being a democrat for 30 years. Even so I will vote for him although I'm quite sure he would make a weak and divisive president (did a great job of dividing the Dem party with help from his wife and ex-pastor). Not that I think my liberal'vote in Massachusetts is going to make any difference. What is wrong with our party? Why do you want to give the Republicans the only chance they could possibly have of keeping the Whitehouse? Grow up. "Change we can believe in" is just a campaign slogan. The democratic powers that be should be able to see through this nonsense. But this is not about the future of America. It's a bunch "Super delegates" acting like old fools with political careers that have run out of steam... and along comes this young guy who is offering a chance to ride with him. It's embarassing.
Wolves in Sheep Clothing
Nobody should be fooled.
This movement is not a Democratic one; it is Republican. It's all part of Operation Chaos. By their fruits we shall know them. Anyone who starts out by saying, 'because I am mad let McCain win' is not a democrat... Anyone who would give the White House back to the republicans after what they have done to this country internally and externally, is not a democrat!
They are not only trying to destroy Obama's candidacy they are also trying to create a war that will guarantee that no white female democrat wins another black vote.
Years from now when people write their memoirs everyone will know who infact is pulling the strings today.
Yeah Race Is Playing A Factor: That's Why Obama Won This Caucuses
Yeah, race matters--though not in the way Obama supporters think. IMO, many people PUBLICLY "voted" in caucuses to show that they're not racist.
Has anyone noticed that in states which held a caucus AND primary--like Texas, Nebraska, and Washington--Clinton did considerably better in the primary?
BTW, MORE PEOPLE VOTED IN FL & MI PRIMARY THAN IN ALL OF THE CAUCUSES.
Dems really have a knack at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
