3% Switch.

Why not a 2% switch, what would that mean? How about 2.5%? Would a 4% switch benefit Huckabee?

Either your running out of interesting things to write about, or Mitt Romney is struggling to be relevent. Which is what I believe to be the case.

Either way what a silly story, way beneath your talents.

By the way are you being paid by the " Romney for Anything" committee? I hope not.

Lucky Sen McCain Primary w/Romney

I thought for sure that Mitt Romney would have been the Republican nominee. if he had won Iowa, NH. He won the 1st round WV caucus but later Huckabeer was declared the winner. Winning Florida would have given momentum...Oh well. In 2012, Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee.

I like the 3% theory. It would have favored Romney, my candidate!

Run the same numbers for Huckabee

What would the numbers be if McCain's numbers were 3% less and Huckabee's 3% more? I would like to see that.

Romney was never going to win in the South and he clearly took votes away from Huckabee in Oklahoma and Missouri. The exit polls showed that if Mike had not been in the race, McCain's numbers would have been even higher, so it was not a matter of Huckabee taking votes from Romney.

right person

obama is the right person to be the president . thanks

What about Huckabee?

Huckabee hates the lds church, because of the missionary proseliting on THEIR turf. That's why the baptists came to Utah to proselite a few years ago. Well, it's all silly. But he'd much rather have anyone that a mormon in the Oval office. In this calculation, it's a very likely scenario that if Huckabee had left the race after Florida (having only won Iowa at that point), Romney would be the candidate of choice. Those in the bible belt would have voted for Romney over McCain, unbenownst to them, even, surprisingly, that he could not/would not support someone who would cut through the misperceptions of a cultish religion in their minds. Even though it's impolitically correct, I'm surpised no one picked up on the tornados coinciding directly to the states where Huckabee legitimately won (not including West Virginia that was thrown to him), on Super Tuesday: Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Go figure.

IF!

Hopefully there will be no more "IF"s for Romney next time around. I suspect this man would solve those perennial problems in Washington. (Social Security, deficit spending, ambiguous immigration policy, health insurance/care reform, lack of patrician cooperation, etc.)

Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney is the ONLY candidate that can add the voter strength needed for the McCain ticket. He is uniquely qualified to step into the Presidency, if necessary and that CANNOT be said about any other potential "unknown" candidate. We simply do not have the time to get to know and trust another candidate between now and November. Romney has had the a--- exam by the drive by media and he had millions of more voters who would have voted for him had he stayed in the race. He is mature, focused and has the courage to make the "tough" decisions that must be made to save this country. We must get tougher, the enemy is sitting back and watching us give in to everything that can destroy our lives as we know them.

We must direct our attention to the serious matters like the economy and the entitlement programs that are destroying us - Mitt is the man to do that.

NO MITT, NO MONEY, NO McCAIN

Massachusetts and Tennessee Data by Congressional District

Mr. Barone,

Nice article. If you have a moment, could you please let me know where on uselectionatlas.org you fond the Massachusetts returns for the Republican Presidential Primary that are in error? The location should be at:

http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/data.php?year=2008&fips=25&f=0&off=0&elect=2&evt=P&datatype=cd&def=1

These show McCain only ahead in the eighth district.

(Note that these data have not been updated yet to reflect the recent publication of official returns by the Massachusetts Secretary of State)

The TN Returns by congressional district are here:

http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/data.php?year=2008&fips=47&f=0&off=0&elect=2&evt=P&datatype=cd&def=1

Note that the TN data have been tabulated using precinct data (I have been unable to find any official tabulation for TN by congressional district). Votes cast in precincts split between congressional districts have not been allocated and are shown in a row called "Unknown".

Good luck America

Nice article, thank you.

Better luck to America and to Mitt Romney next election.

excellent analysis
