Reader Comments

What really bothers me after reading some of the comments is that some of the extremist views and the narrowmindedness of some of the people. Just remeber there are bad muslims and also good muslims, like any other religion. Remember Hitler was a christian.

The Obama Phenomena

Bush inadvertently opened up the possibility for the historic political race we have today. Anyone would seem a savior after the last seven years. Who could have guessed that a competent intelligent woman and a charismatic intellectual black man would make themselves available for the Presidency simultaneously? After six months of following all the candidates (from both parties and a few lesser known independents) around, in Iowa, in order to ask pointed questions and look them directly in the eye when they responded and, having observed their campaign spending habits first hand, Obama's my choice. Never have I seen such a thrifty and efficient juggernaught of an organization spring up, seemingly overnight, on behalf of any candidate in my fifty plus years of life. I thank Edwards for the fine Hollywood entertainers and Hillary for the free Milk Shakes at the Drake Diner following the exciting opening night flood lights in front of the little Varsity Theater for a showing of thier silly mini documentary of the Clinton Campaign thus far which "premiered" near Drake Campus in Des Moines, but I'm casting my vote for the organization that refused to give me a big lawn sign because my house is not on a highly visible route. You give Obama money and it will be spent WISELY.

Obama - The easy choice

The Clintons were ok for America. Our standing in the world continued to decline as far as the Clinton administration being all over the place on foreign policy, but they did a pretty good job with the economy. However, there were so many side issues with their sleazy dealings (including Clintons' pardons on the way out), that Bill is not regarded as better then an average president. Leading to the famous Simpson's episode in which Lisa is saying that it is not a very good example to change the rules so she could win a band contest and Bill Clinton says "But I am not a very good president"

The Conservative media, Clinton's, Far Right Republicans have been trying to indicate Obama has no substance is only paying attention to the speeches shown on the nightly news. Just because he is inspirational somehow means he has no substance. All you have to do is pay attention to his issue papers he has filed on topics ranging from global warming, energy reliant issues, health care, education, etc. and pay attention to the debates then you realize he has stands and plans for a full range of issues.

His record is extensive from working as a Constitutional lawyer for 10 years (so he understands the Constitution better then our current president who regards the Constitution 'as a piece of paper'), has worked in the Illinois legislature for 8 years, and a Senator in Congress from Illinois for about 3 years. Obama was able to accomplish more in the Illinois legislature because he was there longer, but also the first 2 years in Congress were controlled by the Republicans so we thwarted quite a bit as were most democrats

McCain is a good candidate but his stands on conservative issues like the war and tax cuts for the wealthy rule him out. We do not want to continue the failed policies of the Bush administration either in foreign or domestic policy

As George Will weighs in on the experience debate, he states that James Buchanan had tons of experience before he was elected president and is now regarded as one of the worst presidents ever, and there was a one-term Senator from Illinois who became to be considered one of the best presidents ever - Abraham Lincoln

Obama

Yes Donna if you read his books you would actually learn something about where Obama was born and where he was raised. The guy is an original thinker, authentic, deep and knowledgeable.

It's a refreshing change, after 8 years of Dubya's anti-intellectualism. I WANT a president who can read. And you as a voter have a responsibility to get educated too, not to mindlessly blather off incorrect information.

I hope Billary isn't thinking that she can hang on by the skin of her teeth in Ohio and Texas, try to count Florida and Michigan delegates in her beauty contest "win" in those states and keep dragging this thing on while McCain gears his campaign up. Billary, it's over. Get out while you can with whatever remaining dignity you can muster.

Bill in the White House

What is Bill going to do to keep himself out of trouble if he is elected as First lady? Please- no more Clintons or Bushes. This country cannot withstand anymore politics of division. Send the lobbyists home for good. Barack Obama 2008

Hillary's missing tax return

Let's see.

A U.S. Senator is paid $169,300 a year. Hillary was unpaid for her eight years as first lady. She wrote a book awhile ago. Where did the $5,000,000 come from that she "loaned" her campaign? What is on her tax return that she is trying to hide? Interested voters want to know.

Comparison to JFK

I read Wai from Mi, you said 2 main things I disagree with:

]* Obama does appear to be a fighter, he is not confrontational and attacking someone is not a trait we need as President. He decided he wanted to run for President and has put together a campaign and a team that is proving hard to beat. Thus, he had an objective - laid the ground work, picked good people and started to fight. To be that is a fighter, an intelligent one.

* You say comparing him to Kennedy is wrong, well JFK's daughter , borther and niece who knew JFK, say there is a comparison. I don't think you know him better than they did. Kennedy also put together a campaign, communicated his ideas to the people and got people of all ages involved. That is sort of what is happening now.

BS!

I'm getting sick and tired of supposed Democrats grouping the Clintons with BUSH!

If it wasn't for your cult-mentality you'd wake the hell up and remember that Clinton years were great for us and that we all just about cried when Gore didn't get to carry the torch for them!!!! Remember BUSH stole the election!

Why don't you just do Democrats a favor, jump ship now, vote republican! I mean all your boy Obama wants to do is "Get along" with them anyway! Screw that! I disagree with Republicans so I DON'T WANT TO UNITE WITH THEM.

The Best President: Barack Obama

I just want to say that Barack Obama want the best for America. It does not always depend on experience as classified as Hillary Clinton has the most experience. Having a vision of the future; have a eye that plans good things for America counts as well. As you have seen, Barack Obama has won the last 11 contest between Hillary Clinton and himself. Now why do you think he won those contests? Is it because they felt bad for him because he have less experience; is it because they think he is not ready; or maybe it is a race factor. It might be some of those I just named but most of those votes comes from the way he is touching average people around America. You see the huge numbers he have attracted as far as younger voters. They are getting involved into this election. I see him as a pathway for something properous in the future which is why he is seeking for change. Some say that they think that he is just saying that to get votes but the thing about it is that you will not see change with the first glance you take. It takes a belief that the country can change around with a leader who knows what he is doing. The main mission is to come together as Democrats and take over the White House in November. That is the goal that we should be trying to reach. I see Barack Obama as the future for America; the gladiator for change. Yes, Hillary Clinton has some things that is better than Obama but we have to realize that there is not a perfect person. He will have some flaws and she has some flaws. There is not a perfect candidate but there is a candidate who wants to make it right and put all differences aside between both Republicans and Democrats. Lets join together to support Barack Obama.

Obama does not hold my views either

I suggest you look up Mr Obama's church and what it stands for. If I did not know better, I could swear I was looking at a script from Mr. Louis Farrakhan racist inflammatory bigotry playbook. This guy is the most liberal senator we have and does come close to holding views I value. I think the Obama supporters need to do a little back ground check into this guy. I wonder how he got his house at such a reduced rate when as part of the same deal now jailed Resko paid a premium for the lot next door. The press needs to do a better job of asking some hard questions of Mr. Obama.
