Big Wins for Obama and Huckabee

Obama

Obama has more interest of Republicans here in Northern Nevada than any other Democratic candidate ever.

He handily won all of rural and Northern NV and there are very few black people in these parts. Quit making this about race.

I will probably vote Republican because I am afraid of Socialism and Big Government, but I love what Obama has done for the 'other' side and he is by far the Democrats best thing going in a long time.

I do beleive he would beat out McCain and I do beleive Hillary would never do so. Hillary is all that is wrong with government and corruption and independents and Rep will never consider her.

Not so Obama.

Dems do yourself a favor and make him your nominee. I would look hard at him even as a Republican conservative white woman.

Misunderstanding Washington

The national media does not spend much time understanding the actual results. The released counts were individuals elected as delegates. 7 to 10 times more people attended the caucuses. Because of the proportional representation rules used by the D's, the delegates understate the actual voting split since an 84%/16% split will result in a 2-1 split in delegates [ 67%/33%]. Obama got 68% of the delegates from the over 200,000 people attending. It was record attendence. He carried every county but one. This was not a narrow or shallow victory. Hillary spent parts of two days on the eve of the caucuses speaking in Seattle, Spokane and Tacoma.

Californian's Like Mike Huckabee Too

I live in California and I voted for MIKE HUCKABEE- I LIKE MIKE! He's got my vote all the way. And lots of my friends are also voting for him. The more I listen to him and learn about him the more I like him. He is super solid all the way around. He is exactly what we need in the US- a strong leader with Christian faith to lean on and not his own understanding. Plus he has loads of experience from his years as a Governor, dealing with the Clintons, and also years of dealing with regular folks as a caring pastor. He's smart also-- completing his 4 year degree in 2 years and he is so well spoken in his communication skills.

'but it's not like he's really winning....'

What dribble.

Looks like some goofy Huckabee folks have found this site

It looks like a few Huckabee supporters have jumped on this board to bash Michael Barone's observations. They clearly have no idea what they are talking about. People, Barone is THE EXPERT on American politics and since 1972 has been one of the authors of The Almanac of American Politics. He is well respected by anyone that has studied campaigns and elections over the last 30+ years. To dismiss him as a simple pundit is absurd.

Huckabee has no shot and has even joked about that by saying he "majored in miracles" in college. I think he also minored in faith healing and speaking in tongues. Perhaps rattle snake handling was another course he did well in? Either way, Huckabee will not win the nomination and the odds are strongly against him being on the ticket as well.

Christians should Abandon the Republican Party

It is time for a new party based on social conservativism without a defined economic strategy. Forming such a party would separate social and strictly economic conservatives. The Democrats would then reign for a while until they discredited themselves. The social conservative party would then have a shot at providing a viable alternative to unprincipled leadership.

Huckabee Shows Strength among Conservatives

This analysis is kind of ridiculous. Huckabee won by 3 to 1 in Kansas, won Louisiana, and was 223 votes behind McCain in Washington at last count. It's bizarre how the author of this article tries to wash away the big day Huckabee really had. It also shows how weak McCain's candidacy actually is, now that the conservative vote isn't being split up among different candidates.

I happen to live in Fort Worth, Texas, and my wife and I will be voting for Huckabee when Texas has its primary!

Mike Huckabee Can Win

What about the latest polls showing Huckabee has reduced McCain's lead in VA by 21 points in 72 hours?

http://www.wtvr.com/global/story.asp?s=7853147

Huckabee can win, so it would be nice if the media stopped saying he can't.

Huckabee has momentum

Great comments! It's obvious that the "intellectual establishment" is trying to make up our minds for us (how many times during the debates did they split screen between Romney and McCain when one of the two were answering a question). But hey guess what, maybe people are voting for Huckabee because they like Huckabee, not because they dislike McCain. Spread the word and challenge your friends who dismiss old Huck. Ask them what "What is it about Huckabee that you don't like?"
