My New Perch

This week, I have become a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. AEI is a wonderful institution, with many brilliant scholars, and I feel honored to be a part of it. I have been attending AEI events for years and have known many people there, and it's great to become part of it. One of the great strengths of Washington today is that it is home to many fine think tanks, of varying political leanings; our capital city has become arguably what George Washington and John Quincy Adams hoped it would be, the nation's greatest center of scholarship. I am going to continue to be a senior writer at U.S. News, writing columns and blogging, but I will also be writing under the auspices of AEI and participating in public events there. And I'm casting around for an idea for my next book—does anyone have any suggestions?
