Even pretending for a moment that Halberstam was correct in his assessment of Diem, which we now know was not the case, it is astonishing that he would, in his capacity as a "journalist" presume to topple a foreign regime. Even more astonishing, however, is that Barone and USNews would so blithely approve of such conduct.

How sad for our country that the press has descended into such stupidity and perversion.
