Grover Norquist, Enemy of Taxes, Might Be Democrats' Best Friend

Norquist
Gloat while you have the chance, Mr. Mashek. It won't last long.
I love Liberals. They always want someone to pay taxes, except themselves of course. Maybe you should try to talk the Treasury Secretary into paying his taxes if you all like taxes so much. Oh, that's right, he didn't know they were due even though the IMF gave him the money to pay them and he signed documents saying he would pay. The new head of the IRS didn't know that when you get a 1099 you have to pay self-employment taxes. They are due on January 15, April 15, June 15, and September 15, Mr. Secretary.
But surely you don't me to tell you. You are brilliant. Or do you need me to tell you?
If Mr. Norquist hates paying taxes so mmuch, why doesn't he take advantage of his taxpayer-purchased freedom and move to the no-tax, small-government paradise that is Somalia.
Radical types like Norquist believe in a society run on a basis of a Darwinistic survival-of-the-fittest competition for resources. Let's see how he fares in an environment with no public security, police, or infrastructure of any kind. Let him try it out over there at first, rather than bring those conditions here, as he and his ditto-sheep followers would have us do. I'd wager that he wouldn't last a week, and--we'd be well rid of him.
Grover Nordquist
Whoever wrote about Nordquist, saying "Get Lost" needs a big slap on his back! Right on!
Yes, people need to be re-educated about the benefits of taxes. We've been sold a bill of goods that taxes are always bad! I even heard a woman call a radio talk show to complain about taxes. The MC asked her what she/her husband do for work. They ran a bridge repair company.
"Bridge repair is supported with tax dollars! Didn't you know that?" was the MC's reply. The woman apparently didn't know! She was complaining about something that put dinner on her table each day! Amazing! Too many people have no idea what tax dollar buy! It's time they were educated, so that they don't continue to vote against their own self-interest!
And we need to have better oversight to be sure that tax dollars are spent more responsibly. Giving billions in bail-outs to banks who have acted irresponsibly with no strings attached is madness! Thank you, Secretary Paulson! The irony is that the first Bush Bail-out may make it harder for Obama to get his more responsible program through! (One must wonder if that wasn't part of the point! I don't think they are above it!)
Get Lost Grover
I've had it with this constant harping on taxes, this insane and destructive drive by a certain segment of our society to cut taxes no matter what.
We have a society to run; we have a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Our government is not some evil, looming, alien force; it is maintained by the citizens for the benefit of the whole. We need certain things in a society whether or not they turn a profit; there are things that are essential for the overall good no matter the cost. Anyone who wishes to "shrink government until it's small enough to drown it in the bathtub" is basically a traitor to this nation and a threat to its well being. I'm not going to really notice if my taxes go down a bit; it's really not going to matter that much in my pocket. Where it will show up is in crumbling infrastructure, closed hospitals, crowded classrooms. Likewise, I wouldn't really notice that much in my pocket one way or another if my taxes were to go up a bit. Where I might notice it is in the overall quality of life in these United States; more kids graduating from high school, a healthier population, and safer roads. It's not taxes I mind; it's what's done with them. I do not wish to pay for wars and corporate welfare, but I'm more than happy to pay for things that improve the quality of life in the country overall. I'd be overjoyed if the amount I pay from my paycheck for my health insurance, combined with the amount of my deductible, plus the cost of prescriptions and co-pays was instead paid in taxes, so I could walk in and get necessary care with nothing out of pocket, without having to worry that if I lost my job I'd lose my health care too. Furthermore, it would ease a major financial burden off the backs of employers.
It's time we wake up and put a stop to the detrimental influence of these rabid anti-tax fundamentalists. They are bankrupting our nation, causing the disintegration of our infrastructure, harming our environment and doing a great deal of harm to our society in general. Take a hike, Grover Norquist. Some of us are smart enough to realize that we need to pay some upkeep on the nation that we share, for essential services that only well functioning government is capable of providing.

The more tax breaks to the rich movement statistically must contain a slew of PR geniuses. Why then have they not come up with some catchy sleight of hand slogan that can more effectively bamboozle the unwashed masses? "Trickle down" once worked so well, in fact it was truly brilliant as a way to short circuit analytical thinking on the popular level. Borrowing money from China to pay for tax cuts to the rich while sending the bill to our children, that scheme cries out for some kind of new subterfuge from our conservative think tanks. What about something like, "We've got to snuff out more of the death taxes that are strangling the investor sector of our economy." Well, much too wordy, but can't some smart ultracon out there get to work on this?
The Plan
The Grover Norquist plan is to destroy our republic and turn our nation into a feudal society of nobels and peasants.
Destroying the economy is the fastest way to achieve it.
Norquist offers more Abramoff-style sleaze Americans can do without
Norquist has screwed Americans too many times to be taken seriously anymore. Norquist is the quintessential sleazy lobbyist like his best buddy imprisoned lobbyist Jack Abramoff. It is surprising this joker isn't in jail, too, but until recently the justice dept has been seriously hampered by political prejudices to pursue their cronies.
Norquist's ideas are garbage, and Republicans would be admitting to be dredging the bottom of the barrel to pay any attention to a flake like this.
Why hasn't he been arrested?
Norquist is an avowed supporter of anti-American Islamist causes. Since his and their primary goal is to destroy our country, I sure hope no one would take seriously any advice he gives. On second thought, I suppose this explains the harm that has been done to our country by those Republicans who do listen to him.

Wow and I thought Norquist had gone the way of the Edsel. Oh he did, last two elections. No one likes to pay taxes, rent, utilities or anything else for that matter. How do people in this country think we pay our military, fund trips to the moon, pay politicians salaries, provide national security or secure our borders or provide education? We can't keep borrowing from the Chinese eventually they're going to call back their chits. I am of the mind that the rich did not get rich without the the help from the middle and lower classes that they and the GOP disdain so openly by giving the tax cuts to the wealthy and picking OUR pockets. You think it would behoove the rich elitists (GOP and Dems doesn't matter) to make sure that we the people can make a living. They need to keep the slaves healthy so they can continue getting even richer. who is going to do their dirty work if we're all dead from starvation or unavailable medical services?
