I SAY GOOD FOR JOE LIEBERMAN!

DEAR READERS-

AS A FELLOW BLUE DOG/REAGAN DEMOCRAT, GOOD FOR SEN. LIEBERMAN WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM TO SET THE FACTS STRAGHT. THE LIBS ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE PEOPLE. OUR WING WILL NEVER GO AWAY OR WILL JOE LIEBERMAN! BY THE WAY, VOTE MC'CAIN/PALIN IN 08!

ROBERT JONES

PROUD AMERICAN AND DEMOCRAT!

Yes, Mccarthyism is running rampant, again. The GOP has nothing to brag about-no accomplishments. Truth is, they've nearly ruined our country-bankrupted us for sure. Only Halliburton and a few other government contractors have profited under these yahoos...and a few top execs and salespeople whose companies are getting bailed out. So, without any successes to point to, character assassination is their only tool. They have a LOT of experience with smear tactics-Nixon through Bushy ! It reveals much about their character. Of course, we all know what to expect from the clan that gave us the past 8-18+ years...tricks, deceit, funneling taxpayers' money to their cronies, etc.etc. Sociopaths? Oh my, YES!

It is amazing to me how some diehards Rs (RL Schaefer) turn every issue into the abortion issue! There was no mention of that in Mr. Mashek's column, yet RL is off and running on it. You see, it is this type of singlemindedness that got us Bushy

and the gross incompetence of the past 8 years, as well as GOP" dominance beginning well before the turn of the century. Can't the anti-choice fanatics see how their beliefs have been used to manipulate them? As long as the GOP fuels that emotional issue periodically, then they can get away with anything because the true believers are all wrapped up in only one thing

and aren't paying attention to everything else that is going on.

Many resent the takeover of our government by such narrowly focused idealogues in recent years-to the exclusion of issues of massive importance. The religious right has much to answer for. You got your shot and it's been disastrous. We have lost so much.

The U.S. is not a theocracy. The American people do not want a theocracy. Anyone who doubted it is sure now - after seeing the results of too much religious influence in our govt. the past 8++ years-and all the manipulations that have accompanied that.

Some perspective and independent, rational thinking would be most welcome-essential, in fact.

Are we really going to have to wait 104 years to get rid of Lieberman?

Joe

This man is a traitor and a coward! He should be deprted to his country of choice, Jewsih Palestine.

Joe Liberman

My comment is about character, not political beliefs. I'm not sure what Senator Lieberman's beliefs are at this time to be honest.;-)

I was in high school in Connecticut when Joe Lieberman was the Attorney General of the state. My mom, an economist, was a lowly employee of the DPUC (Department of Utility Control). Joe Lieberman was shockingly nasty to her and other people at the bottom of the pyramid. He went out of his way to be friendly to people towards the top. OK, so he's a politican, that last sentence is no surprise.

Specifically, I remember my mom coming home in tears once, not knowing whether to laugh or to cry. Mr. Lieberman belittled her, OK, screamed insults, in a public meeting about Seabrook and deregulation. When he found out she had been in charge of the analysis that supported his position, he comically changed course.

All this may sound academic. But I don't think so. Let me put it in simpler terms. I consider Joe Lieberman to be the worst kind of cynical tyrant and fair-weather friend. It says a lot about somebody, none of it good, who bullies people that can't do anything back. And who has no compunction about stabbing them in the back or at least walking away when times are tough.

Think of the guy in a restaurant who screams at a waitress, demands tons of her time, and doesn't leave a tip. Think of the girlfriend who pets your puppy when people are watching and kicks it when their backs are turned. Think of the guys on Wall Street who are shocked that nobody is standing up for their fraudulent performance bonuses after treating their employees like crap.

It's borderline sociopathy. Narcissism is a rather ineffective way to get people to support you, particularly when the chips are down. It is definitely the opposite of ethical and moral behavior, to pay lip service to the right thing only when you get an obvious advantage from it.

addition to above - last point word in caps missed

"...he had from 8 yrs old to discover who Ayers was He wound up in his LIVING ROOM anyway?

Dense, No?

Get a clue Mr. Mashek.

As a CT resident; I've watched how my fellow residents have scorned him.

CT is a very left leaning state and when when it leaned further left than Joe was willing to go they kicked him to the curb. They doted on him in 2000 and when he stood up for what he believed about the Iraq war, they branded him. The real irony is that Chris Dodd and his involvement with Fannie and Freddie has HURT THE COUNTRY and you're complaining about Joe.

The majority who voted Joe in after the Dems abandoned him; will vote for who THEY want again; be it Joe or someone else. The hypocrisy of the left is stunning when you consider that Gore Leiberman "got robbed" in 2000; yet when we elected Joe as an Independent that was "Joe manipulating the sytem" Susan B. our Sec. State had the nerve to propose that a candidate couldn't change parties after they lost a primary as Joe did.

We WANTED him.Who is she to decide? If we didn't like what Joe did WE WOULDN"T HAVE VOTED HIM IN. We didn't need any help. If you live in CT you know how politics works here. Not pretty. Not for the faint of heart. Get a clue Mr. Mashek; Obama had from age 8 to age 40 to discover what a despicable human being Mr. Ayers was and He wound up in his anyway?

How dense can one be?

Lieberman

I'm a life long CT resident and am proud of what Joe is doing. I don't always agree with the man but to stand up for what he belives is best for our state and the country and not to drink the punch from the big "D" bowl is one of the things I admire about the guy.

Calling Senator Lieberman a modern day McCarthy is just a joke but it's not funny at all. Hurtfull and hatefull yes, funny-NO.

One of the worst things an elected offical or a registard voter can do is just to vote because it's either what the party wants (as a Senator, ect) or for a voter because there is an R or D next to someone's name. Get info from several areas and make up your own mind.

Also, it's not what age Senator Obama was when Ayers was with the Weathermen (8) but what he did with Ayers when the Senator was an adult. Not that he did much good with the money the group had for Chicago education.
