What Is Kennedy's Legacy?

A life of accomplishment and tragedy

Posted August 26, 2009

Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy died Tuesday night, finally losing his struggle with brain cancer. The arc of his life and career encompassed succeeding his brother in the U.S. senate, the tragedy at Chappaquiddick, his failed 1980 presidential run, his long legislative legacy, his push for healthcare reform and his early support for Barack Obama's presidential run. What is Kennedy's most important legacy? How will you remember him? Post your thoughts below.
