Republican Party Shrinks to Lowest Level in 30 Years

A look at the shrinking ranks of Republican Party in 10-year increments

huh?

How come I wasn't asked if I was a selfdescribed republican? Or anyone I know for that matter? You cant have true statistics if you dont ask everyone.

Republicans

Tom and Texas Rebel are both right.

As long as the Republican Party follows the NeoCon/Wilsonian philosophy, the party will die a slow death.

As soon as the Republican grassroots take back the party with a Humble Foreign policy and Fiscal responsibility it will rebound.

We must return to the Goldwater/Reagan philosophy.

3rd PARTY THOUGHTS

Many people don't call themselves Republican because of the party's decided drift away from its core philosophical principles.

Unfortunately, some in leadership positions (Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, etc.) think the party has to go even further left.

Baloney!

The party needs to get back to its roots, but since that probably won't happen anytime soon, a third party is a viable option.

We shouldn't kid ourselves, though. A third party won't really elect anyone for many years, if ever. But what it CAN do is siphon votes off from those who refuse to stay true to their conservative roots.

The threat of that alone may drive some of our wandering conservatives back into the fold and help to remove some of the bad apples, like the Olympia Snowes, Lindsay Gramms, etc.

The 3rd. Party Is Now

There is no constitutional conservative republicans in the Senate now and very few in the House. The Neo Con era is over and the socialist regime will be short lived too. If the worthless republicans in the Senate do not block this racist communist Obama has up for the Supreme court that will be the final nail in the coffin of the GOP!

Then a real party of constitutional conservatives, American First & Foremost, civil libertarian, non-interventionist, anti one world government, close the borders, deport the illegal aliens, stop exporting American jobs & importing cheap foreign "human capital" to suppress our standard of living, installing a flat 10% tax period and adjust the federal budget accordingly, abolishing the federal reserve and begin printing money from the treasury at no interest to rebuild our country with "American Citizens" at a descent living wage will arise!

Independents High

Looking over the actual article, it appears the Democrats are relatively low as well. The number of independent voters is increasing. If people are becoming dissatisfied with both parties perhaps there can be some real change.

The article says people are moving toward the center. Center of what? Tax, borrow, inflate, and spend? That is both parties. One borrows more, the other taxes more. The major differences (though there are others) seem to be abortion and guns and those lines are becoming blurred.

Declining Repubs

Interesting that on 21% self described Republicans swept Reagan into office for two terms and floated Bush I for four more. So, tell me why this should bother me? And your point is?

party affiliation

This is only temporary. When Socialism does not provide any more freebies than the Republicans did the present government will be thrown out and it will be popular to be a Republican again.
