Idiots
If this radical administration wants to make trouble with the decisions made in the past to protect American citizens' innocent lives, """""PELOSI""""" needs to get her fair share of this. We psychologically interrogated terrorists, we didn't kill them. If radical dictator obama wants to persue this, his cronies MUST go down also. And then what would the MARIONETTE do without his MASTER-ETTE in charge???
Truth and Honor Before Country
It seems that some Americans have adopted the mindset of former President Nixon, who once stated when asked if the president can do something illegal? "If the president does it, it's no longer illegal." Well, at least 63 and 58% of Americans do when asked if our country engaged in torture of fellow human beings that we had in captivity. It doesn't matter if we're at war with folks or not; WE DON'T GET TO TORTURE! Its that simple.
The fact that ONLY 42% of Americans believe that Bush and Cheney condoned and sanctioned torture and as many as 37% doesn't believe it was torture should frighten us as a freedom loving, human rights defending nation. Sadistic Madman Cheney and Hang 'Em High Bush may feel that they can torture anybody they want to, but as a nation WE DO NOT TORTURE!
I'm continually reminded of all the mad men throughout history that proceeded Bush and Cheney like Pol Puc, Hitler and Saddam Hussein, who also believed that the rules of war didn't apply to them either. Their argument would probably match Bush and Cheney's exactly.
Periodically, America has done some very insensitive and inhumane things in the name of "protecting our country." The unprovoked, brutal and vicious attacks on Blacks by citizens of this country, was justified as "protecting our country." Our governments near extinction of the whole Native American people by giving them small pox infected blankets was justified as "protecting our country." The internment of fellow Japanese Americans, because they looked like the people that bombed Pearl harbor was justified as "protecting our country."
Now, we're dealing with our government again trying to convince us that their violations of the rules of war and everything decent and humane has to do with keeping us safe. They're counting on our political partisanship. They say its the right against the left and those who want to protect the POTUS and those who don't. Its really just smoke and mirrors to obstruct us from seeing the reality of war crimes being perpetrated under the guise of protecting our nation. We can once again the American people are left with a choice. We can either play along and justify what was done or we can take a stand and say we're not going to torture anyone for any reason, because as Americans, who respect and love the principles this country was founded on WE DO NOT TORTURE!
Protect and Defend America
Dorfy of SC you couldn't be more wrong. The other countries could really careless. They have more than enough problems of their own.
If Obama wants to have this hanging around for the next four years I say go ahead with the witch hunt. The one thing that is for sure is that this would be change alright, every administration in the future would have the same review, is this what we really want?
As far as the water-boarding, is it torture, of course it is. Any thing you do to encourage someone to talk is a form of torture. The real issue is do these interrogation policies meet the definition of torture according to the Geneva Conventions, and that answer is no they do not. I personally could careless, any means necessary to stop evil is ok with me.
