Should the U.S. Close Its Borders to Slow the Spread of the Swine Flu?
More than a few conservatives aren't happy with Obama's remarks on swine flu at his Wednesday prime-time press conference. The president compared closing the border with Mexico to stem the spread of the H1N1 flu "to closing the barn door after the horses are out, because we already have cases here in the United States." What do you think about restricting movement into the United States? Would this help control the spread of the disease? Or would it, as Robert Schlesinger points out, end up hurting the United States in both the short and long term? Post your thoughts.
