Not a single instance in the THOUSANDS of posted legal gun defense uses did the PERP have a legal concealed weapons permit......

Gun Control

Absolutely not. Only by loosening controls can we remain better armed than criminals.

gun control

Enforce existing laws

Criminals do not observe existing laws let alone

any new ones.

They fear armed citizens more than the police as the police

are rarely around when a crime is in progress, but if they

think the potential victim is armed, they will back off.

Gun free zones are really....victims available zones

If a gunman opened fire in a library...who would be able to protect themselves...."no deadly weapons allowed" sign is in the entrance......

While if no one knew who was "carrying'...it would make them

think twice before trying anything.

Enforce existing laws.

We need to enforce the existing laws. Here in Ohio, it's an automatic +3 years for using a gun in a crime. But the prosectutors quite often dont add on the addition time or charge the suspects. When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns! Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, and other tyrants first took away the guns. An armed public is a free public.

Bang

I'm OK with gun control if it's done legally by amending the Bill of Rights.

Does the U.S. Need More Gun Control?

Nope.

Does the U.S. Need More Gun Control?

We certainly need some more controls, not the least of which is closing the gun show loophole. Guns enable people to EASILY kill people, for there's no defense for a bullet that's `on the way'.

Gun Control

My response to gun control is to look at what history tells us. In nations where the citizens are prevented for protecting them selves from murders, rapists, or armed political groups have been the victims of gangs, dictators, etc. Firearm ownership is "the" key to freedom. Seldom if ever are the police on the scene at the time a crime is committed. Just look at the statistics regarding response times. Enough said.

Gun Control

We need to allow teachers who want to attend a gun safety course, to carry a concealed weapon. All these crazy's who go on shooting sprees on campuses would end instantly if a hundred armed teachers were on campus to confront these killers instantly.

Does the U.S. Need More Gun Control?

Absolutely not! All the "control laws" on the books today are adequate for controlling guns. Controlling outlaws is a whole separate matter... outlaws are going to get guns whether there are controls or not because, unlike us law-abiding citizens, they don't care. More legislation is not going to do anything because the main problem, as Ernie points out, is the lack of resources to enforce the laws we already have. "GunFreeZones" are already on the books; and laws restricting sales to people with emotional problems and to felons are already on the books. We know gun control first-hand here in Illinois where we experience the most stringent enforcement of gun control laws existing in any U.S. state. The 3-day wait for ANY firearm [rifle, pistol, or shotgun] is considered reasonable by law-abiding citizens. The movement toward right-to-carry is in its infancy, and is going to be bitterly fought because of the Chicago political machine. In fact, there were serious moves to ban guns in Illinois altogether prior to the momentous Supreme Court decision last year affirming our 2nd Amendment rights. Totally banning guns would have made all gun-owners outlaws. Jim of TX is also right about cracking down hard on offenders which I am interpreting as people committing crimes and threats using firearms -- I just don't think we need any more legislation that could possibly make law-abiding gun-owners "offenders" under the law.
