NRA to Blame? Should Gun Control Advocates Use Shootings to Further the Cause?

Gun Owners: How many will turn their guns on their fellow humans?

We are a nation of gun owners. Millions of guns in the hands of both legal and illegal gun owners might not be so bad if all gun owners were persons of high morals. Sadly, this is not the case. During the End Times so vividly described in the Bible, gun owners, in their fury, frustration, and helplessness will turn upon each other. American will become a battle ground with the strong against the weak. Gun owners will savagely kill anyone who dares to stand in their way as they search for food, water, and anything else that will help them say alive.

This planet will once again demonstrate the truth of the divine law: The wages of sin is death.

Binghampton shootings

The reporst from Binghampton seem to sensationalize the tragety with some untruth. The statements from authorities says 98 shots were fired in "a little over a minute".This would mean the gunman reloaded his pistols probably four times each (with 15 rounds per clip). One would usually use two hands for this task which would require setting down one gun, ejecting an empty clip, pushing in a loaded clip, releasing the slide to load and begin fireing. If this could be done in 5 seconds at four clips per pistol, makes 8 X 5 sec =40 seconds. This leaves "a little over" 20 seconds to fire 49 shots from each pistol and make it possible in "just a little over a minute".No production pistol I know of on the market can fire 49shots in 20 seconds. Never mind the task of aiming enough to kill 13 people and be under the stress the gunman was under in doing this horrible act. This reporting makes good honest, lawful gun owners and sportsman look bad. The poor reports of information like this comes from people not being educated in gun use and their capabilities.I don't think any malace by the authorities is intended but misrepresentation of facts can lead people to believe and fear guns instead of resprcting them and using them safely and properly.More people need to be educated and taught to shoot so they realize the privilage we hold thanks to our second ammendment. I suggest they enroll in hunters safty courses or join the N.R.A.. Visit a local gun club and show an interest in shooting. The people at any local gun club will be happy to talk to you and lead you to the proper way to learn to shoot and respect firearms.Gun Control in New York is one of the toughest states in the country, yet disturbed people still do these terible things.More laws are not the answer, more education is the way to safe and proper use of a priviledge we've inherited from our past leaders. If you don't know anything about guns, don't just fear them, learn about them. You may be surprised at your interest in guns if you try shooting the proper way.You will realize what what the whole gun control situation is and you can make a proper decision on your own.

Your heading betrays your bias

"...further THE cause", oh please why not just aqdmit that the editorial position of the magazine is pro-gun-control and dispense with the illusion that this topic is discussed in an even-handed manner.

People kill people

Lets throw the stock market out the window. Sure it has made people money, but it has also lost money for others. So lets get rid of it. People don't hear about guns preventing crimes because they don't happen in NY and since they don't happen there it doesn't make the news. The only information people receive from guns is negative. I was persoanlly involved where an individual was going to rob us, I have a concealed handgun permit, and it never happened. When he made a move towards me I made a move for my weapon, and informed him it wasn't going to happen. He slowly put his hands up and backed away. Nothing more became of it. Did you miss it on your local news? Well of course you did. And then there are cars. All these people who are getting killed. Now we have people texting while driving. The point is clear, it isn't the fault of the devise it is the person controlling the devise (car, weapon, or cell phone while driving).

Gun Control

Luther of IL makes an excellent comment. If you don't like the 2nd amendment, and you prefer to be helpless in the face of criminality or tyranny, then amend the constitution.

The left hates people who are responsible and, through sacrifice and diligence, manage to accumulate capital. Let's ban entrepreneurs. The left hates people who disagree with them. The left worships political correctness. Let's ban freedom of speech.

The left in this country will never be satisfied until we're all gay, poor and defenseless. Homosexual sex is one proven cause of AIDS and death. Let's ban homosexuals.

gun control

gun control is not the answer. automobiles kill a lot of people too, and legislating against them won't stop the carnage on our roads any better than legislating against guns will stop people killing one another. It's easier to blame the gun rather than the killer.

it won't work

Strict gun control would only work if 1) the entire world complied with it or 2) we had absolute control of what comes in through our borders. As we have seen in Mexico, firearms flow into Mexico illegally from numerous countries. Obviously, the demand for firearms still exists in Mexico despite strict gun controls. Tightening gun controls in the U.S. to match or exceed those of Mexico would result in illegal imports here as well since Americans will continue to demand firearms. Wherever there is a demand people will attempt to fill it for profit.

Even with extremely tight border controls and worldwide compliance with gun control laws, citizens desiring firearms could build their own using supplies and equipment available at most any Sears or farm supply store. Gun powder was invented hundreds of years ago and Americans could easily relearn the art of making it at home.

Of course, those who would violate strict gun control laws by building or owning firearms would be criminals. Who wants to live in a society in which only criminals and "bad guys" have firearms? Sounds like a "Mad Max" film to me.

Like it or not, firearms are here to stay.

Freedom haters

We have gun control.

If you don't like the Bill of Rights, there is an amendment process.

Contro

Gun control is about control, not about guns or making the citizens safer. Look to Baltimore and D.C. to see how effective gun laws are.

It's time for me to join the NRA

I see the American way being threatened at every turn, and now they are going after the guns. I know it's time for me to join the NRA before it's too late.

Does anyone read the Constitution of the United States?

or

Does anyone care?

Our Liberty and Freedoms are at risk. If I wanted to live like the Europeans I would move to Europe.
