Obama and the Government Can Save Detroit, If History Is Any Indicator

R U Nutz?

"prevented by government regulation from raising rates high enough to cover costs, forced to run money-losing passenger trains"

You praise the government that helped create the need for a bailout? How silly!

Levin is a true Patriot in every sense of the word, and we did not get in "this mess" by following the Constitution. Are there any thinking people out there? Hello?

Big Difference!

Am I the only one who seems to understand the difference between Billion and Trillion?

Bailout Mania

Hey, if you want to bailout GM and Chrysler great, who do I call to get my proxy vote in. Maybe in the first place the government should have left the Big 3 alone. Then they wouldn't be in this mess. Anyone want to know why the Big 3 have a huge inventory of Green cars? Nobody wants them, especially me. I am going to continue to drive my car that I like very much and have paid a pretty penny for, which is a chrysler product. My wife is also going to continue to drive the mini-van that we have paid good money for. We have five children and it doesn't make sense for us to drive a puddle jumper.

By the way, which part of the constitution allows the president of the US the right to takeover a corporation? Where does it say in the constitution that I have the right to wait in line for free health care? Like I said both actions are illegal according to the highest law of the land! I hope his policies fail!

GREAT article

Love the historical references.

It's about time somebody started talking about how we can possibly succeed, instead of how we're doomed to fail.

We have to stop acting like the automakers bailout is some insurmountable task, and start learning from the successes we've had in the past with similar situations.

And people absolutely need to stay away from over conservative originalist constitutionalists like Mark Levin. People like him are the reason we're in this mess in the first place! Fearmongering and negative campaigning against people by throwing around the scary "liberal" word is just the wrong way to go.

Chrysler a success story?

Chrysler, a success story? You mean the one that took our money and then proceeded to move jobs to Mexico and Korea? A Japanese executive said once that if he had done what Lee Iaccoca had done (after wrapping himself in the flag, no less), he would have been branded a traitor.

Yeah, the Gov't may have gotten back "a cool $311 Million", but at the cost of thousands losing their jobs. At least the Japanese companies here create jobs for Americans. As Samual Johnson once said: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." I can't wait to see what happens now that we've given them billions!

Does no one read, understand, or follow the Constitution

The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution's principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the National government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states and to the people. It makes explicit the idea that the federal government is limited only to the powers granted in the Constitution

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Why? because the founding fathers knew the section of government that could best serve the people were the ones closest to the people it governed. The main component to Federalism is mobility. If you didn't like the laws of a state you can move to a state that better suits your needs and beliefs.

Our founding fathers are turning in their graves at what is going on in this country today.

All should read "Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto" by Mark Levin.
