Is China Testing the Obama Administration?
U.S. national intelligence director calls Monday's incident the worst in eight years
On Monday, five Chinese ships came dangerously close to a U.S. Navy surveillance ship in waters off China's coast. Speaking before the Senate Armed Services committee yesterday, National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair referred to the incident as the worst harassment between the two countries in eight years. Chinese policies seem to be "more military, aggressive," he said. "That is a trend that we are seeing." Is China testing the Obama administration? Was Monday's incident a sign of changing waters in the relationship between the U.S. and China? Or was it an accidental confrontation and nothing more? Post your thoughts.
