What Should the United States Do About Iran's Nuclear Program?

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says Iran is moving closer to possessing a nuclear bomb

Posted March 2, 2009

From the AP: "The top U.S. military official"— Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff—"said Sunday that Iran has sufficient fissile material for a nuclear weapon, declaring it would be a 'very, very bad outcome' should Tehran move forward with a bomb." The Israeli government has reportedly been considering a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities. It remains unclear how exactly the Obama administration will seek to dissuade Iran from bringing its nuclear program to fruition. What should the U.S. do about Iran's nuclear program? Should the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran concern the United States? Post your thoughts.

Iran

joseph, what do you mean when you say "Give Iran 24 hours to release our people"? What people are you refering to?

Iran

Enough is enough.

When will the US ever stand up against Iran? It is time we finally do the right thing and invade and free the people of Iran. Iran is the main source of terrorism in the region. We in the US have the man power in the region to get this settled once and for all. The world is a better place without Iraq in power and will be even better without Iran. Give Iran 24 hours to release our people and then send in our troops. We did it to Saddam Hussein and we need to do it with Iran. We stood by and let Hitler come into power. Why do we let Iran continue to terrorize the United States and the world? Maybe if we in the US make it perfectly clean in Iran the North Korean government will get the message that we will not let any government put the United States in Harms Way.
