The Threat of the Human Shield Strategy Hamas Uses Extends Beyond Israel, Gaza

This is the enemy Israel is fighting

A simple poster making the rounds shows, on one side, an IDF soldier standing as protector in front of a woman and child. On the other side, a Palestinian militant stands crouching *behind* a woman and child. That, in a nutshell, is what is on display in Gaza.

But there's more. Hamas has "militarized" schools, mosques and homes into military assets. Even classrooms have been rigged with explosives. One home was found with 40 gas canisters rigged to explode - something to consider when Gazans claim there's a "shortage" of cooking gas. Cement was confiscated for use in tunnels and bunkers. Steel pipes were stolen to build Kassams. And aid trucks coming in almost daily are hijacked for use by Hamas, the goods often resold at high price.

The bulk of Hamas' leadership and troops remain hidden underground, or in "untouchable" civilian sites like Shifa hospital, ready to hold out to the last civilian, then declare victory.

A letter to Bill Couture

Bill ,

Apparantly you need a history lesson.Arabs were not expelled from there homes during Israels independence they were told to leave by there own people. The generals from the Arab armies who they placed there trust in told them to leave. They were told a great victory is at hand and that they would be returning to there homes shortly. You say they should receive compensation? What about the Jewish refugees forced to leave arab lands? We have far more jews that have been expelled from arab lands than Palestinian refugees. What about them? The Indians were expelled by there enemy, the arabs by there own rulers. The ones that stayed enjoy far better services as Israelies as Arabs in any other Arab country. The only true solution to all the problems of fundamental Islam will come from within until then they will be dealt with as they are and hopefully much harsher than in the past.

Technically speaking...

If you were to read the Bible, Bill Couture of CA, you'd find that it was the Jews, not the Ishmaelites (or whatever they were called), who dispossessed Canaan from the Canaanites. In fact throughout most of the Torah (Genesis-Deuteronomy), the leaders of Israel are typically speaking to the Israelites and not to the sons of Ishmael. So if we're going to go into the "who does it belong to" debate, it would belong to the Jews.

Now granted, we may not use a bomb to blow up Osama if he was hiding under a child. We'd more than like use a sniper. But the point here is that what will we say no to? In WWII, we used atomic weapons on Japanese cities to help convince the Japanese that the war could end without them. Harsh? Yes. Brutal? Yes. Did it work? Heck yes! The situation then is similar to the one Israel faces now. Do we go in and try to kill our enemies even though we may kill several civillians and our own troops? Or do we do nothing and let our people live in terror? Their actions speak for themselves. They have had enough, and if the Palestini people want to do something about it they can hand over Hamas members in exchange for peace.

Israel and Nazi Germany

It seems that Israel has learned to much from Hitler.

As to what should the US do if we found Ben Laden hiding under a hospital in Afganistan. The answer in one word is nothing. It is time to say you don't blow up hospitals and schools under any cercumstanses.

The problem Israel has is that it is a colonial power. There are no Romans left to punish for Mesada. No Babaloianians left to punish for the captivity. In fact if we could gt a good gneology back to 70 AD we'd probably find that many Jews are related to many Palistinians. Other Jews are probably more closely related to Vespacian then any Jews who were living in Palistine in 70 AD.

The time for a religious state wether it by Suni, Shiate or Jewish is past. Like it or not Hamas is the legitimate government of Gaza. That is the first thing that muct be recognized. Like it or not Israel stole Palistine from it's rightful owner. They must be compensated, just as th US has begun compensating the Indians. Until Israel admits that there will be war in the Middle East. Israels allies will be subject to attack.

The Arabs are going to have to admit that after 60 years it is to late to remove the Israelies. Most of them were now born there. It would b about the same as giving the US back to the indians. It isn't going to happen.

The only viable solution and that one supported by the Biblical and historic record is to recognize that this is a family sqable between brothers. Palistine blongs ti the sons and daughters of Abraham regardless of wether they call themselves Jews or Palistinians.

You've got to be kidding me!!!

Judy Cross of XX ..what would you do if someone constantly threw rocks at you or your family..time and time and time and time again...keeping talking or go knock the heck outta them..be for real...

Islam religion

Islam religion (by hARRY f. dUNN of MI) Hear, hear, and here, here. Finally somebody has the courage to say openly, that Islam is not a "religion", but fanatics' or savage animals' credo! Bravo Harry!

What do we do then?

Judy Cross of XX, what would you have us do then? Sit down and talk with people who would rather die killing us? The Palestinians joined with several other Arab nations in a aggressive attack the day after Israel became a nation in 1948. If the Israelis have seem overly violent, it is because people like Hamas, Hezzbollah, and Iran would wipe them off the face of the earth. And if you are sad about the children who die because Israelis are bombing a site where Hamas leaders are located, then be angry at Hamas who is cowardly enough to hide behind women, children, hospitals, and schools. A Palestinian state was forfeited in the Israeli-Arab Conflict. If the Palestinis really wanted to have peace, they would turn over Hamas and set up a government that would be willing to be at peace with Israel. Why doesn't the world try to give Israel a chance to have peace? It is because the Arabs have been talked into a holy war with Israel.

A war crime is a war crime is a war crime

Osama has probably been dead since Dec 2001. Even if he were still alive and there was only 1 child with him, you don't drop the bomb.

Israel is in contempt of international law. Israel has been carrying out a genocidal war against Palestinians since 1948. Palestine also has a "right to exist", which Israel denies.

Israel is using asinine excuses to try to persuade us that there is a justification for all of their war crimes. Don't buy into it

Islam religion

What kind of people are involved in this Islam religion. In Iraq Muslims are killing Muslims justifying it by saying they are trying to kill Americans. When an American soldier accidentally kills an Iraqi citizen, there is a big investigation and the Iraqi people get mad at the United States Army. When an insurgent kills 100 Iraqi citizens, there is no investigation. These people are like animals killing each other. The religion of Islam is supposed to be a religion of love. Maybe it's a love to kill one another. This religion of Islam is a big joke. They twist everything around to justify their own means. God does not want them to teach hatred in the schools like they do.

Read the Article

John Q. of PA, you really need to read the article. Hamas has antagonized the Israelis and instead coming out to confront the IDF they hide behind women, children, schools, and hospitals. If the Palestinians really want peace, they need to vote for a political power that condemns suicide bombers and rogue rockets and encourages a peaceful relation between the Palestinis and the Israelis.
