What Do You Think About Blagojevich Appointing Roland Burris to Barack Obama's Vacant Senate Seat?

The Illinois secretary of state doesn't like it one bit, and neither do Senate Democrats

Posted December 31, 2008

Yesterday, scandal-ridden Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich appointed Roland Burris, a former Illinois attorney general, to fill Barack Obama's empty Senate seat. "Please don't allow the allegations against me to taint this good and honest man," the governor said at a press conference. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, however, seems not to be taking Blagojevich's advice, saying that because of the controversy surrounding Blagojevich, he won't certify Burris's appointment. What do you think about the latest turn in the Blagojevich scandal? Post your thoughts.

What a hoax.

Blagojevich should be ashamed of himself. I guess he figures that in this new age of Obama and racial acceptance, no one would dare question his appointment of Burris--a black candidate. And this makes the perfect cover for him, he can play the race card if anyone starts asking too many questions about the scandal or the nominee...Thanks for making the rest of us decent democrats look slimy "B".

Nation of Laws

The Illinois governor has been acused but not yet convicted of anything. What ever happened to inocent until proven guilty?

He holds the position of Governor and under state law is entitled to select a replacement US Senator. I'm not defending his behavior, but at this point he is still governor.

The real solution to this problem (also for Delaware and New York) is to hold special elections and let the voters decide who should assume vacant Senate seats.

The Illinois Governor

RB should be jailed, right now, without due process, stripped of his powers, whatever they are and shown to the Press in chains, as a warning to others.
