The Obama Staff’s Blagojevich Report—What Will It Show?

Posted December 23, 2008

Political Bulletin notes that "the Obama transition will release today its report detailing any contact between Obama aides" and embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said the report has been "ready for release for a week. We've held off at the request of the U.S. Attorney's office and that continues to be the case, though we expect to be able to release the report shortly." What will the Obama staff report show about contacts with Blagojevich? Post your thoughts below.

Self-righteousness

Is it all self-righteousness, Obama as the last angel standing, so pure, so honest and so holy, only time can tell if Bush will have the last laugh? After all, they all are Democrats, politicians and lawyers from Chicago, Illinois.

This is the biggest non-story of the season

I don't expect any big revelations. It is inconceivable that the transition team would not contact him to discuss the appointment - that would be proper and expected. And it is clear from the preliminary transcripts that the Obama team was not willing to offer "anything but gratitude." It would be nice to get confirmation that it was actually Rahm Emanuel who contacted Patrick Fitzgerald's office about Blago's attempted shakedown.

That said, I also don't expect the GOP to leave it alone. Since they don't have anything else to try to hit Obama with, they will keep beating this dead horse as long as the media is willing to give them the air time.

Gullible media

I heard that US News and World Report already has has a headline that Obama Probe clears Rahm Emmanuel. Notice how the stupid media just assumes everything Obama does is truthful? No verification, no checking. The same media that demanded that Obama's 2002 Senate opponent (a white republican) have his divorce records unsealed did not know that Blago was a bookie for the mob before he was elected governor. Anyone notice a trend? I am glad the media industry is collapsing, I love the idea of out of work lefty journalists, although they will all end up working for Obama anyway, as they have all along.

The next few years should be a comedy of errors for the gullible media. I can see them putting their posters of Obama in swim trunks on the ceiling of their bedrooms.
