It is a sad commentary and not what the founders of this country ever had in mind. They lived in a society where voters were landowners and that meant they were smart, capable people. We live in a society where everyone thinks they're smart but most would rather watch Inside Edition than the news. How could anyone doubt that if the democrats had run Denzel Washington instead of Obama he would have won by an even larger margin? Bottom line - if they ever started giving a basic aptitude test to voters (similar to a citizenship test) there would never be another democrat elected president.
