Does the Government Have a Long-term Strategy to Get the Economy Back on Track?
The Federal Reserve yesterday announced that it would lower the interest rate for federal funds to nearly zero, an all-time low. President-elect Obama said he wasn't going "to second-guess the Fed, which is an independent body," but called on all branches of the government to combat the recession. Does the government have a long-term strategy to get the economy back on track? Or have President Bush and the incoming Obama administration left the bulk of these efforts to the Federal Reserve? Post your thoughts.

Government & Economy
The United States government has a long record of doing what will hurt the economy. The great depression is an example. Social Security is an example. Continued federal deficit spending is an example. Taxation policy is an example. Government regulation (of most everything) is an example. I could go on.
Most of the political leaders have little or no business experience and would have no idea how to start, manage, and successfully run a small business. And these are the very people we allow to control our economic future.
I fear we are in for a rude shock as we go forward. The US government can not continue to run deficit spending and commit itself to trillions in future unfunded obligations. Our government will go broke and the life of all Americans will be drastically changed forever.
I say this with great sadness, as I believe we are blessed with so much.
