Amenaza a EU narcotráfico mexicano.

al Qaeda is uniting the world's powers

One of the unspoken truths in the war on terrorism is that al Qaeda is harmonizing the interests of the world's great powers. The USA, Russia, China, India, and Europe all have a common interest in overcoming the radical Islamic terrorists. China, India, and Russia all have regions of their countries that wish to break off as separate Islamic countries. Europe has been the target of terrorists just as much as the USA.

Alliances between the great powers will increase, and will ultimately confront, weaken and destroy radical Islamic terrorism. That confrontation will be a world war of sorts, lasting decades and moving from region to region.

The worldwide "police action" needed after 9/11 was sacrificed for a misplaced American war of Bush Bravado vs. people and common sense. THIS is why we still Al Qaeda.

Right on the Money, Mr. Brown

If only voices like Christopher Brown's could cut through the morass of meaningless chatter more loudly and regularly.

It seems to me most Americans aren't serious about love of country, Western values or our American way of life; otherwise, they'd understand we're inches away from losing it all. We love to smell our coffee, but not even a 9/11, it seems, is strong enough to wake us up to Islam's ideological and terrorist threat (Mumbai? Yawn).

As the USN&WR print edition tells it, London banks and businesses are queuing up enthusiastically, happy to submit to Islam by way of Shariah banking. Here in the U.S., bailout dopers like AIG are in a swoon, having had their own taste tests of Shariah. (They'll be rolling out their Shariah products any day now, too.)

Finally, I'd like to politely suggest that Sept 11 was the metastasis of a tumor that began its growth under the care and feeding of Yassir Arafaat, et al. and the widespread neglect of the Western World, which saw Palestinian terrorism mostly as a harmless annoyance for Israel. Had the world shown a zero-tolerance policy for Palestinian terror back in the seventies, when Arafaat had few followers and little money, we might have prevented the cancer of Islamic terror from spreading as it has around the world.

I think Al-Qaeda is weakened, but not gone. I don't come to that conclusion from that talking heads, or the intelligence reports. I come to that conclusion from the trend of Al-Qaeda's viability in performing mass terrorist attacks.

They're high point was 9/11 where they killed 3,000 Americans.

The next large attack on a soft target was the Madrid bombing where over 300 people were killed.

After that came the London bombings where less than 100 people were killed.

Looking at these three major attacks on western powers on western soil we see a decrease in lethality. Al-Qaeda has been unable to accomplish anything remotely close the 9/11 in seven years. That tells me, though they're still around, they're nowhere near their former strength.

Still a threat

Even if there has been defeat of Al-Qaeda on some level since 9/11, there is still a very real possibility of another terrorist attack from this group and/or other other extremist groups that want to attack the U.S. There are still masterminds behind Al-Qaeda and I have confidence our government is strongly committed to this issue.
