Public Opinion: Is an Auto Industry Bailout a Good Idea?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will present Congress with a financial bailout for the auto industry's Big Three (General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford). It could cost taxpayers as much as $75 billion. Should the government bail the automakers out? Post your thoughts below.

If we let them go under we will only increase our dependence on foreign cars and then they will just jack up the price to rip us off like the oil companys do. Next thing you know we will be paying $200,000 for a toyota 4runner which costs $20,000 to make.
The Union workers can afford to lose their jobs
At $60 and hour, they should have a lot saved up. Let them bail their own kind out.

in the late 50's early 60 the car dealers and oil co. bought up a pattent for a carberator that would get 100 mpg. now they want money from the american public to bail themselves out of financial disaster. the oil co,. made 300 billion a quarter in the past 2 years, let them give the 26 billion to the auto manufacturer's. after all if it weren't for the crummy mileage of the ammerican cars, we would not be in this mess and the war with iraq.
