NOW, THERE IS YOUR CHANT!!! YOU STUPID RACIST!!!
So it's not about race?
Perhaps the sheeple who voted for this misguided Democrat will believe that but for those of us who chose to vote for a free country, we just don't swallow it.
It had EVERYTHING to do with race and Obama should be very grateful that it did... otherwise he would not be in the position he is in right now.
I wish I could say I had a hand in electing our first minority president but I can't and for me it WASN'T about race. It had to do with his views and his disrespect for the very tenets that shaped this country in it's infancy.
I did not vote for him, but I will respect the office to which he has been elected and hope the cliff he leads us over isn't that steep.
the nation needs time
To say anything other than "wow" to the election of Barack Obama is to say that the obvious is non-graspable. And for many who flail still, obviously, this is the case.
That said, it will take some time for america to grasp to any fullness what Barack Obama's election means to it. Just as it took time for many to understand that he could be elected, the mere concept still evades many because of how impossible or improbable we all kept it in our minds for so long.
What we will witness for a very long time are the nay-sayers who can now but pepper the atmosphere with their "yeah buts" and "warn" us about what might not happen. Whatever happens, and I pray it is all good and keeps us on our seemingly enlightened path of ascent from the hell we've lived in for so long, nothing can decrease or diminish what just happened in this country: many awoke from a long sleep, found the strength of character to take back their country, and do what many said would never be done. I would say that those who have warnings need to wait and see, because all the former premises have been either removed or greatly shaken. Many who were never in the equation now are, and who in the world knows what will happen next.
I think that, in large measure, is what makes this all the more exciting--that we have absolutely no idea exactly what will happen next. But my bet is that it will be good. Anything that wakes up the sleeping classes and gets them to take back what so many fought and died for them to have can be nothing but great.
Obama for change ehh..
obama better do a good job as the first black president. :P i didn't vote for him for nothing, if not i am never going to vote for any black president again!
What part of get over it do you not understand?
To African "American"s ,if your wondering how to get to the moon ,you will need to accept that it was "European Precision" (Wrights' quote ) that made it a reality.Furthermore ,as a result of war, every defeated civiliztion/culture have been subjugated throughout history - that is one of the sad truths about our nature. But only your race keeps on belly -aching about past injustices ,while at the same time confirming negative stereotypes . In a manner of speaking, everyone else is busy studying for "finals".
A Call To Service
This past week, in which all Americans took part of, will be noted for as long as we will be able to remember. Dr. West hit the hammer on the nail we he said President-elect Barack Obama and ourselves will have to act in a manner that really has never been done before. With this election, going forward will have to set new boundaries for future generations carrying on the legacy for anything being possible regardless of gender, race, social status, etc. I am very excited to see what progress comes with this administration and how we as Americans rise to the call of service and have everyone, not just government, become proactive in moving forward. My generation, Gen X, and individuals that follow behind will become the leaders that take this country back to the top as a major powerhouse within this global marketplace.
We have to all do what's best for our country and Obama oviuosly was the choice for change. Stop focusing on color and put your focus on jobs, economy and what he can do for this country. We all from time to time get caught up in what's not important. We need to realize that people are getting layed off left and right our country is in trouble, big time. we have our new President as of January 20th and we should respect it. Obama is young and as far as I can see very organized I think he's going to surprise all of us.
Gen X'ers rejoice
That is a good point, and something that needs further discussion/analysis. It's really the Baby Boomers that have elected the "First Black President". I bet that they are far more conscience of that fact, Where as for our generation, I think that the race novelty can wear off. For us an Obama administration has the potential to get the country back on track, to undo what previously was suggested as the worst of our parent’s generation. Boomers seem to have always been so self conscious. And tend to really buy into there own exceptionalist ideology, literally (and with credit), whether it’s used to market a new car, or life insurance. They spent the last twenty years romanticizing there youth and ignoring there failures, both as young adults, and in middle age. Now I can’t help but wonder if they’re responding as if it’s there last great opportunity to rectify the myth.
And if they have already conveniently forgotten as they do so well that three months ago close to half of them supported Hillary Clinton, not so much that she was a woman, but that she represented they’re generation.
Generation Xers Rejoice!
Generation Xers Rejoice!
Well we have as our legacy the election of the first black President!
All the Boomers said we where reagan babies, and apathetic, and did not trust any political project.
We beat you boomers with your stories of woodstock and rock music and whatever. The boomer legacy will be Clinton at best, and George W......
We owe you a deb Boomers but we did not deserve all your imposing labels when you called us a lost generation.
