Public Opinion: Barack Obama's 30-Minute Infomercial
Reader Comments
The substance of the comments regarding "Whether the US is ready for an African-American President."
The intellect of the comments so far on this subject is beyond approach. Most of the commentators appear to have the IQ of a "Pin-Head." So, let me put a little spark of intelligence into the game. This country is ready for a Black President, an Asian American President, and an Indian President. It it for the voter to decide, and not a few ignorant people without substance.
its not racism.
our country isnt ready to have a black president.it isnt that a certain individual or group is racist, its more of that the segragation is still in effect, whether we like it or not.
Racisim
I see we have lost all intelegence in our conversation when we say we vote for who we vote for because of racism. So no other issue is more important than tat of who is black or white? Give me a beak! Anybody who is voting for a candidate because of race needs to stay at home on the 4th. I guess we need to include affirmitive action in the debate even though the only people who care about voting for a candidate for race are the most ignorant of all accusing everybody else of racisim. healh care, two wars, the economy...no no, lets vote on color. For anybody who chooses to vote for either candidate for the actual issues that you truly believe in, God bless you and may the best man win that of which the majority will decide. I am done with this opinion poll because some people aren't worth wasting anymore time trying to talk about the issues and would rather distract themselves toward racism.
Democrats Taking Over Our Government is Scarier then Halloween
I didn't see the Obamathon broadcast last night, but on ABC World News, Charlie Gibson asked Obama if he would work with Republicans, and Obama said Yes! Gibson asked further, Well you really don't have to deal with Republicans if you have a super majority in the Senate and Congress. Will you still feel like you need to work with Republicans? Obama said that some Republicans have good ideas, and I like stealing good ideas, and claimed he would have one Republican in his cabinet. Barak Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Ried have always voted with liberal partisanship, so why would they all of a sudden change thier ways.
If Colin Powell is going to be the token Republican he puts in his cabinet, then he's really not bringing someone from the GOP. Powell, whom I don't totally blame for feeling dissed by President Bush because Bush decided to listen to Chaney and Rumsfield instead of Powell concerning a very failed forgien policy. But for Powell to throw his hat in the ring for Obama, and betray his old friend McCain claiming that Obama will unify the country is absolute bull! McCain has the track record of being a unifier in the Senate. To become the Chief of the Armed Services, you have to be groomed, and sponsored by Senior Military and Presidents and thier Cabinet.
Republican leaders have groomed Powell all these years, and he has benifited from friendships with people like Richard Nixon,Ronald Reagan,George H. Bush, and John McCain. As far as I am concerned, Powell has betrayed the GOP for his own self serving interests and possibly his desicion to side with Obama is motivated by racial bias. Powell, who became the highest ranking Black man in our government as Secretary of State under the first Bush administration appears to have gotten caught up with the possibility of working for a Black President.
i agree with leah
the show brought tears to my eyes as well. I will be so happy when he wins. It gives me chills just to watch him
Right on !
Noname of CA;
You've seen the light...it's private funding...and meant to be spent for a "cause." Obviously...the cause was to be direct and focused on issues and solutions...not accusations and "fear" mongering...the "halmark" of the sitting Republican party.
His intent was direct... his portrayl...honest. Telling it like it is...not "threatening" as how it could be..."hope" was the key word. As aware and concerned citizens of these "United" States...we need to make the changes with a wide sweep...the "big broom" move. Out with the "old" in with the new...new President, Congress, and Senate. Sure it's a risk, but what have the Republicans done for us in the last two elections...here we sit: devastated economy, standing alone in its defenses, a mockery by almost ever foreign power, a faltering medical system, a lagging educational environment,
Social Security in ruins, and others. The inheritance of our children and their children is one of "shame." We strive to give our children something more and something better than we've had...so let's give them "hope" for a future ! Make a wide "sweep" in political history...give us the "change" we need and that which we deserve...give the Democrats...the chance to make a difference. Let history judge our "correctness."
PS - Just hearing McCain touting "his scares" to prove his worthiness...how about our "scares" ? They won't go away...either ! It's amazing that now in the final five days before the election...he "has a plan."...too little....too late !
obama's greatest contribution
for the good of freedom of thought and opinion in America and for a boost to the freedom of incividuals all over,I withdraw from this electoral race.
obama
brought me to tears last night...I pray he wins...go obama
Why?
Why in the world would anyone bother to watch someone blow "millions" of dollars on an infomercial, when he had the press at his beck and call for free commentary at any time? That money could be used to help the poor people he so wants to help. It's private funding. He is mired in his own self image and it's frightening.
Sarah Palin?
Give me a break! Talk about inexperience! One of McCain/Palin biggest and most under-handed tactics is trying to win by slamming Obama every chance they get. McCain supports Bush's policies 90 percent! I don't want more of the same! Wake up people! Obama focuses on the issues at hand and doesn't waste time throwing mud. What's all the fuss about the money spent on the infomercial? Do people not understand that they are in a race to win? It's a campaign for heaven's sake! If "Bush, Jr." would have done it, it wouldn't be as much controversy. I smell "hater-ation".
Obama plans carefully. He is knowlegeable, classy and focused. He has demonstrated this throughout his campaign that was well thought out.
I say to President Obama, go 'head with your bad self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
