How Should Joe Biden Handle His Debate With Sarah Palin?

How to treat Pallin in the debate

Tough! She supposedly is a professional who claims to qualify to be the President of the United States. If she isn't tough enough for a tough debate, she is out of her league (which I believe she is) as the VP candidate she claims to be!

on biden

I beg to differ. all pressure I think is on Biden. after all, he is the senator who runs all the time for the presidential nominee but always loses, so many time had said that BHO is not qualified to be our president and yet now runs under him? integrity? Palin will come out the big time winner on this debate. she has nothing to lose but all to gain.

VP Debate

Come on. We all know that all Biden has to do is show up for this debate. The Obama Media will take care of Palin. They already have their vitriolic comments prepared and all they will have to do is tweak these comments to incorporate scenes from the debate, then they will simply hit the SEND key 2 seconds after Gwen Ifill winks at Biden and officially declares the debate finished.

A good debate is not going to erase all the inexperience Palin has. She won't lose on the media's treatment of her, she will lose because she is underqualified.

All the pressure is on Palin, so all Joe has to do his state the Democratic platform and tell Americans why McCain's policies will just be another 8 years of Bush.

Biden vs. Palin

Biden should rush across the stage, sweep Gov. Palin into his arms, and beg her to let him go moose hunting with her.

VP Debate

First and foremost he shouldn't take it easy on her because she is a woman. That is what the McCain camp is betting on. He should hit McCain on all his policy issues...if Sarah is aggressive, he should fight back.

The rogue leaders of the world aren't going to give her a pass because she is a woman. If she can't survive a veep debate without complaining of sexism, she has no business being on the ticket. America has a better track record of women's rights than most countries. America is more than sympathetic to women's rights. Other countries will not be so easy on her, and they will have no incentive in doing so.

If she can't string some intelligble sentences together or instill confidence in the American people that she can replace McCain at any given moment, she deserves all the harsh treatment that the media gives her.

This is the Vice President of the United States she's running for, not a Ms. America pagaent.

Biden vs.Palin

He should tear her apart, and this can be done without being rude.

Don't pull any punches - she won't.

The Janice Andrews thinking is why Kerry lost. When asked what he would do he would reply with ambiguous proclomations like, "I will get rid of nuclear weapons." When asked how he would reply by saying something equally meaningless like, "by talking with poeple" Joe Biden approaching the debate by skinning, hanging then punching is great unless Palin uses the perfect counter strategy to that- poking, peeling and then beating down.

I think Mitchell nailed exactly how it will go.

His main worry will be the same problem H Clinton had. Trying to balance your experience while still being an agent of change. How does a thirty year memeber of the Senate convey that he can help change and reform Washington DC?

Gaffes like his wheel chair remark are fine. That is an honest mistake or brain fart. The Market Crash/Roosevelt/TV type talk isn't even a gaffe it is just fabricating history to attack a political opponent. If he does this then I think the folksy little sayings will have plenty of bite.
