Joe Six Packs of America? Does she mean the drunk? You'd have to be to vote for her and McCain.

palin

The republican party is trying to dumb down America. We want to show the world our elite status. We have to be the envy of others and Palin doesn't cut that. We have to lead by example and not need the "Beverly Hillbillies" from Alaska to be our representatives to the world. It makes the US look dumb. And for those of you that think our perception doesn't matter in the world. Please get out of your little insular world. We are a global country with global economy and global trade. Our perception does mean something. We currently have other countries wanting to take the lead as financial capitals of the world because they perceive us as week(see London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore). Average is not good enough. We have to be the best and continue to strive for the best. Palin is mediocrity. Why the republicans want to dumb down the position of vice-presidency I do not know. Her qualifications are minimal at best. I keep hearing she was commander of the Alaskan national guard. What major orders did she ever give. The great caribou roundup of 2007? Or perhaps they had to do crowd control for the Iditarod? But when you can see Russian I suppose you are the first line of defense? We do not need someone that is not a statesman. And do not forget that in an executive position she has to represent the US as a statesman. She will make our "Mighty King" George Bush look like Churchill. We do not need someone within a heartbeat of the presidency with her background and qualifications. We need to strive for the best. That is why we have the best schools and training in the world. What is next the republicans will be combing through the community colleges for their cabinet members? We are America. We need to get back to being the best. This starts with having our smartest people at the top positions. We do not need average for our leaders we need the smartest.

Personal Attacks

Now is the time for Americans to stop all unfounded personal attacks on our political candidates no matter what party they belong to. If we, as true Americans, spent as much time checking backgrounds, affiliations, and political histories of the candidates as we do listening to biased people that call themselves reporters or reading the personal unfounded attacks of bloggers on the internet, we would then be informed voters.

It is so much easier for us to point fingers and blame others, especially the politicians we elect, for our problems than to accept responsibility for our lives. I am and have been a long time Democrat and worked very hard to prevent our sitting President from being elected. I hear many complaints from the very same people that voted for President Bush now complaining about him and the Republicans.

We are about to elect a President to change the way this country is currently headed. The question is what type of change is the best for the country. Both candidates will make a change. That is a given. One is well known and has a history of doing what he thinks is best for the country, even though his party takes a different stance. The other has very short history of not doing anything that could hurt his political career and never finishing any job he has started except trying to further that political career.

You will have to make a choice very soon on who you desire to represent you and your fellow Americans. This by the way includes your children, granchildren and maybe even sisters and brothers who cannot vote for theirselves. Chose wisely after getting all the facts. Yes facts, not hearsay and biased reporting. I have looked at the facts and the votes and the actions of the DNC. Like I said before, I am a long time Democrat. Today however I must and I will vote not for the party but for the person I feel with make the change for best for this great Nation and all of the people of it. I too am crossing party line for the best of the country and all of its people and voting for John McCain.

Palin and the Trust Issue

Sometimes I read or hear on tv those people like the comment left by Lenna Wilson who doesn't "trust" Obama. I cannot fathom what this is based on when the clear evidence shows who cannot be trusted - McCain has PROMISED to keep us in Iraq; Palin's experience and actual intelligence in matters unrelated to Alaska is a joke. Things come out of her mouth that do not make sense - she has sentences to no where. Give me a leadher with intelligence and integrity. Neither McCain (Keating Five) nor Palin (Troopergate) seem to have much going in the ethics and integrity department - its bullying as usual.

How about a kinder nation? Let us take care of business at HOME. In case anyone has not noticed - we have a CRISIS here at home. Yeah, unless you are Sarah Palin and can afford to install a $35,000 tanning bed in the Governor's manse. Real Joe Six Pack there... and McCain - how many houses does he have? let's see, his own staff got it wrong, at last count it was 10, not 7 and he has 13 cars. Yeah, they really are so like me. NOT.

Vote for change ... unless you like the way this country is now.

Alaskan royalty

"What woerldwide emergency or crisis can compete with having a Down Syndrome child, a Pregnant unwed daughter and a son off to war. Whew."

Forget competing, it doesn't even compare. Having children - no, not even five of them - does not automatically qualify you to be ANYTHING including, in some cases, a mother. Otherwise we should be pushing to have the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe named VP of the United States.

Joe six-pack Palin

Why don't we want someone smarter, more sophisticated & better educated than ourselves to lead us? Why do we insist that no one who isn't exactly like us should represent us? In other words, if we're that stupid, why do we want equally stupid leaders?? Why is it BAD to be "elite?" I know I want someone smarter & tougher than I, someone with a more sophisticated understanding of the world, to lead my country. Are we better off today than we were 8 yrs ago after an "average Joe" administration? We need someone who can synthesize the right course of action from contradictory advice. This requires an "elite" mind, and too bad if a smart, capable candidate makes you feel dumb & incompetent. Deal with it!!

I am a Democrat that will have to vote for McCain. I do not trust Obama to do what is right for all Americans. For everyone who is voting for Obama because they want change better be sure of what kind of change they will be getting. You have heard the saying, "you better be careful of what you wish for". Well, I think that is fitting in this case. Obama can talk the talk but I am not sure he can walk the walk.

Joe Six Pack

Joe Six Pack is NOT an income bracket; Joe (or Joan) Six Pack is a frame of mind. There are a lot of members of the Six Pack Club that are like the people Jeff Foxworthy represents. She's the closest to being female counterpart to Foxworthy than anything so far.

That frame of mind is why she is so unique; someone that the Average American Family can relate to. She shops like almost everyone else in this nation, she treds the very fine line between the neighborhood tomboy and a fine lady. She's a Hockey Mom; just what we need in Washington to tell the entrenched politicians and their cash rich cronies exactly where they can put their bribes and gifts.

She's already made them nervous, and I believe that will continue. In a very few years she's faced more family emergencies than most do in their lifetimes. She is dealing with them very well. What woerldwide emergency or crisis can compete with having a Down Syndrome child, a Pregnant unwed daughter and a son off to war. Whew.

No wonder the oil barons knelt before her in Alaska. She is a Queen - a real six pack style royalty; finally.

And on the flip side

Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected to the governorship of California because the previous governor was so bad - nto because Schwarzenegger had any executive experience (he didn't) or any great plan except to 'change things'.

To imply that not just 'anyone' can be President of the United States tells me Palin is as unqualified - or less qualified - as Obama. Her experience as 'Commander in chief of Alaska' is equivalent to the executive experience of the mayor of Charlotte NC - which has a population roughly that of the entire state of Alaska. Her unwillingness to take the lead in putting herself out there for the press to munch on (expect in a few carefully scripted TV appearances and an utterly laughable orientation to world affairs at the UN) tells me she's not ready for the big leagues of national politics, let alone the Vice Presidency. That she could become President (which has a far greater chance of happening given McCain's health history) doesn't bear consideration. I don't particularly care that she's a woman. I do care about her politics. Even if she was far and away more qualified than Obama, I still wouldn't vote for her.

But all of that aside, qualifications notwithstanding, the point is, McCain's record shows a 95% Republican/conservative bent. His judgment in running his campaign has shown him to depend on grandstanding, slurs, lies and politics as dirty as any in US history to get his 'message' across. This from a self-confessed 'straight shooter' whose 'gun' is about as straight as the gait of a drunk.

Obama promises change - by the very nature of his politics and past. Will that change be better? Who knows? California voted in Schwarzenegger because he promised change, and we waited 85 days for the legislature (Democratic) to write a budget the "Governornator" would actually sign. That was change here. I expect change will happen in Washington. The bottom line in my, and most American's, mind is - WE WANT A CHANGE in out leadership.

And regardless of the candidate's qualifications, promises and other frills of campaigning, based on past actions (a much better indicator of how an elected official will perform in office) the fact remains, Obama will bring change. McCain will not.

It's really that simple for the majority of us. And in this country, if it's constitutional, the majority wins.

This will fortunatly fall on deaf ears

I have faith in our young people too. Only because most are becomming more educated and they pay attention to the ill-willed Reagan economics, the policy of fear and the appointment of idiots in the executive branch and now you are supporting another one, one malignant tumor away. We don't need idiots in our country who are mostly for the dumbing of education so that smart people won't be produced to ask questions. Yah, let some idiot red-neck who thinks Russian airplanes are testing over American airspace, which has been confirmed hasn't happened during her 21 months in office. The GOP is even acknowledging she's a joke. Why is reason and intelligence orphans not adopted by the Conservative side?
