Palin is an old 1980s term

Just like Mrs. Hasselbeck, Palin is, plain and simple, an air-head. NO disrespect but hearing HOW Palin talks and comparing that to Mrs. Hasselbeck of "The View", the are both of the same-mold: flighty. McCain, he chose Palin because he is tired and didn't expect to get passed the PRIMARIES. Now finding himself facing Obama, he didn't have anything prepared and to sabotage his own election, chose Palin as his running-mate, no disrespect to WOMEN. Females in America have the capability to be President of the United States but Ms. Palin is NOT ready. She's an air-head and is too flighty to be Commander in Chief should McCain become ill or passes on.

Hasselbeck is also flighty and her brain is lost in space! Neither her nor Palin reside in REAL America. Palin's excuse is that she has resided in ALASKA, BIG country and OPEN air, which explains her being mindless. Hasselbeck, she just lives in fantasy, plain-and-simple. Let them both REMAIN where each of them respectfully are while America gets onward with TODAY's real-life issues.

Palin

It appears katie Couric deliberately and vicously attacked Sarah Palin by taking advantage of Sarah's apparent lack of Hollywood experience in front of the cameras. Is it the job of journalists, especially one of Couric's history and standing, to employ 'gossip, rag paper' tatics?

McCain-Palin

If Barack Obama becomes president of this Great Nation I will take my family and move to another country. The Rock Bomb will destroy this country from the inside out by letting our enemies in. Sarah Palin has more wisdom and intelligence than the rock bomb and the piddle-puddle combined. John McCain is not a carbon of G. Bush and McCain will lead us forward with common sense. I cannot believe Americans, especially middle-class Americans will fall for the circus antics of the Bomber and his clowns.

someone actually says give her a "break, cut her some slack"

wow, at this most trying time, i would want to have a vp whose has the knowledge and experience to run our country in case something happens to the president. i dont think she fits the "bill" for that position. at least i know joe bidden will not just be a vp, but help guide obama on tough issues that our country is facing. i think mccain made a mistake on picking palin, just because she is a woman. they thought they had to play off on obama for not selecting hillary, but i think it backfired" BIG TIME".

cut the woman some slack?

This individual is running for Vice President of the United States of America. You do not "cut someone slack" when our very lives may depend on their decision making capability. Remember, there is a 25 percent chance that the old man will die in office if they are elected and he wins a second term. Frankly, having these bimbos at the controls scares the living Palin out of me.

Sarah Palin

I whole-heartedly agree with the comments submitted earlier by Linda of NY and, as an educated woman with an advanced degree in political science, I've been extremely disturbed by Sarah Palin's lackluster contribution and potentially damaging influence on this presidential race. Before Sarah Palin's debut, the race was progressing relatively sanely, with both candidates tackling the important issues intelligently, lucidly, coherently and, for the most part, rationally. After Sarah's debut, the race took a bizarre and dark turn... Quickly, the McCain campaign took on an amateuristic quality, reminiscent of a high school student government/popularity/beauty pageant contest. Clearly, Republican camp were thrown into 24/7 spin control duty, consistently talking in strings of soundbites and campaign button slogans. Witnessing the amount of effort, time and money required to maintain Sarah Palin as a deceptive campaign "prop" is deeply insulting to me, a serious-minded voter who is concerned about America's rapidly declining position as a global power (quickly becoming a global "joke"), record levels of national debt, participation in simultaneous wars requiring our troops to endure multiple tours of duty and, imploding economy. The fact that the Republicans are "marketing" Sarah Palin as an experienced and qualified candidate when she is consistently and embarrassingly misinformed, verbally incoherent, and clearly out of her league reveals how out of touch they are with current voters, particularly women. We must remember, this campaign should be an interviewing process for American citizens to decide who is BEST qualified to be the next Vice President of the United States and, potentially, PRESIDENT, if required to do so (so we can't let anyone off the hook just because they are "2nd" on the ticket...). This is not about providing a platform for politicians to advance their careers. Unfortunately, this appears to be yet another campaign "stunt" pulled by the Republican Party who is not interested in running an honest, intelligent and professional campaign. Sadly, this stunt was done at the expense of future female political candidates who will be forced to climb over the wreckage caused by this political train wreck AND at the expense of poor Sarah Palin who will have to pick up the pieces of her shattered public image as she attempts to move beyond being a Saturday Night Live parody.

Palin on Ticket

Sarah Palin believes that she has foreign experience (needed to be VP) because Alaska is next to Russia and Canada? Well, I guess that I would make a Great VP because not only have I been to the Russian settlement of Sitka (Alaska), I have been to Canada more that a dozen times. Sign me up McCain. As for the comments re: Regan, Carter, and Clinton, I believe that all of their VPs had foreign affairs experience. The only VP that did not have foreign affairs experience was Nixon's VP, Spiro Agnew.

Palin on ticket

When Clinton ran for office, he was no foreign policy bigwig.

When Regan ran for office, he was no foreign policy bigwig.

When Carter ran for office, although he'd been in the navy on a sub, he was no foreign policy expert.

Cut Sarah some slack. She has shown talent and good judgement in the various office in Alaska. That's the same kind of thing that people saw in Clinton, Regan and Carter. A President can't possibly know everything, which is why they have advisors.

Cut the woman some slack. Everyone's expectations are beyond realistic for anyone. Oh, yeah, by the way, OBAMA is no foreign policy bigwig. His short time in the Senate (cut in half by the fact that the good people of Illinois have been paying him to run for President) hasn't given him the experience level of either John McCain or Joe Biden.

sarah palin

poor ole sarah palin. she has been scrutiized by the medsia to where she can't be a woman . she is a strong woman from a strong family and needs to be respectedre as such

Sarah Palin

I resent the fact that the Republican Party has made a mockery out of the idea of having a woman in such an important position. I believe that Mrs. Palin was very much the professional within her realm in Alaska, but is not "seasoned" enough to hold such an important position in the U.S. The party seemed to have chosen her in an attempt to patronize the female population and have never given the "average Joe/Josey" the benefit of having the intelligence to know the difference. Guess what? We know! My fear is that their "silliness" will actually ruin it for female politicians in general. Once again, the Republican Party has made me feel that we've taken another 10 steps backwards! Thanks for nothing!

What the 2009 Elections Tell Us About 2010

By Tom Davis

Seven lessons the parties need to learn from Tuesday's races.

The 2009 off-year elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York's 23d Congressional District offer a small snapshot of the current views and motivations of the American electorate. While there may be a desire to extrapolate the events of Nov. 3, 2009 into a prediction of what will happen on Nov. 2, 2010, that is impossible.
