The number of insured people has decreased since 2006

15.8%: Percentage of U.S. population without health insurance in 2006

15.3%: ...in 2007

47.0 million: Number of uninsured people in the United States in 2006

45.7 million: ...in 2007

67.5%: Percentage of Americans who were covered by private health insurance in 2007

27.8%: Percentage of Americans who were covered by government health insurance in 2007

(Some people may have been covered by more than one type of insurance during the year.)

Uninsured

Why do these articles never mention that a huge part of the uninsured are healthy 18 to 35 year olds. Get them in the system paying premiums, and premiums will go down. But that would be too easy, and not cater to the headlines.

Could some of you please be liberal with your own money?
