Blog Buzz: McCain's Speech Reviews, Sarah Palin Ducks the Media, Community Organizers Aren't Happy With the GOP
McCain's speech isn't a home run, and Palin's and Guiliani's comments offend community organizers
Our daily look at stories and topics that are lighting up the Internets:
McCain Misses the Mark
Bloggers at both ends of the political spectrum at least agree that John McCain's address last night at the Republican National Convention wasn't a home run, and it was a far cry from the rousing speech that Sarah Palin gave. Liberal bloggers, however, have some harsher criticisms, saying it lacked a clear theme and a specific policy agenda. They say the policy positions McCain did talk about were solidly Bushian, particularly for someone who calls himself a "maverick." All in all, liberals say "underwhelming" and "thumbs down." Conservative bloggers acknowledge that McCain is no great orator but still say the speech was "presidential" and think that he connected with the audience on an emotional level better than Barack Obama. Though liberals say the speech lacked substance, conservatives think it was full of "meat." The worst part may have been the presentation, particularly the weird Walter Reed background photo goof.
Palin to Media: No Questions, Please
Newsweek's Howard Fineman has reported that after a brief run on the campaign trail, Palin will go back to Alaska and stay away from the national media. That report, combined with comments from McCain adviser Nicole Wallace about Palin's failure to take questions from the press, has liberal bloggers questioning Palin's VP readiness and urging traditional media to "get thee to Alaska!" Conservative bloggers say the reports are false and only illustrate the media's "animus towards Palin and John McCain."
Palin, Guiliani Feel the Wrath of Community Organizers
Rudy Guiliani's and Palin's sarcastic jabs at Obama's experience as a community organizer during their speeches at the Republican National Convention have outraged other community organizers. Marc Ambinder writes about whether the term has racial connotations. Other bloggers are talking about the community organizers who are insulted by the mocking comments and who feel that Palin has "just spit in their faces." Conservative bloggers say that the jabs are directed only at the "supremely mock-able" Obama and think that his work in low-income Chicago neighborhoods was far from honorable.

"Canada loves Palin
What's not to love about this woman .. a hockey Mom and a TRUE feminist ! Gotta love it!
Go get' em Sarah "
uhh no, I believe the majority of Canadians do NOT love palin, so please don't group yourself with the majority of Canadians please!
I believe many people from Alberta, which is generally very conservative (because of ..yes, you guessed it...$$$$).
I would really like to hear any actual reasons for why people like Palin, serious reasons. No more of the "she's righteous" "she's like me!" "she's down to earth and a hockey mom" because really, WTF cares? Why does that matter in a day like today. If I wanted a regular hockey mom with an average IQ running a massive country like the US, then why not pick any person off the street. Someone that can at least name a newspaper they read for daily information!!!
1. She refuses to answer questions directly - oh but this is so endearing! she's sticking it to the man!...oh wait, she's just the man in drag.
2. She cannot complete a sentence, that isn't written to her. Yes she can repeat the same thing over and over at rallies, but what else?? Does she know what the Bush Doctrine is, does she know the names of important leaders of other nations, can she say what a VP does?!?!?
3. She is diving American's by making it into a race of differences in such a hateful way. He's a terrorist, that pals around with muslims and arabs and other scary people of non-white skin. While she talks about how REAL Ameriican's live in small towns rather than any part of your country. She's bringing in God and the elite and other BS that really does not pertain to the serious issues your country is actually facing.
You people need to be slapped and woken up to the serious state of your country, stop worrying about what the gays are doing, or whether a woman gets an abortion because she's been gang raped by relatives. Think about how you are self destructing and a fast rate, because you can't get over differences in opinion. You are going to implode and you won't have anyone to blame except yourselves.
If you truly believe that God does exist, and you read his works. Then you know that he is the one that judges in the end and as long as you do right in YOUR OWN life, then you need not worry about what someone does because you can't judge what they've been through.
PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF THE PLANET, DO NOT VOTE IN ANOTHER REPUBLICAN...PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU AS ANOTHER HUMAN THAT WANTS THIS WORLD TO CONTINUE TO EXIST!!!
you religious nuts aka extremists (I say this because you truly give true Christians and other true faith followers a bad name) that are so backwards in thinking, that spew hatred from ignorance, you people make me sick.
I'm so glad I am not an American, not because all American's are bad people, but because so many good American's must constantly bicker and fight with the ones who think that white's should rule the earth and as long as they say they're doing it for the sake of Jesus Christ, they can string up anyone they choose and set them on fire...of course in the name of the righteous "true American" followers of God.
If you think you are any better than the other brain washed extremists in the middle east, you are severely mistaken.
Sarah Palin is Great!
She's right on the mark! I listened to a radio broadcast where they substitued Sen. McCain's issues and asked the obama supporters if they supported these, like a woman VP and what they thought about his continuing the war and the people interviewed absolutely supported the new (WOMAN VP CANDIDATE) and to (CONTINUE WHAT WE STARTED IN IRAQ (I) RACK!) - By the way, it was 3 different interviews and each one agreed with his policies! How dumb is that?
Yes Sarah Palin would be a great President if it came to that. Look what's she's done for Alaska.
