Blog Buzz: Sarah Palin's Day of Bad News, Barack Obama's Convention Bounce, John McCain's Falling Out With the Media
Questions mount about Palin as VP, and Obama gets a bounce in the polls despite the Palin announcement

Christian leaving the republican party after 40+ years...
After viewing America's older, most hypocritical, (yet judgemental) citizens come together as a national party to vent their slander against others in order to protect the nation's most wealthy from paying their fair share of taxes, makes one heartsick. Warren Buffet (does the supposed republican financial expert, Mr. Gramm know who he is?) reports his secretary's annual salary as currently being taxed higher than his own income.
Regarding Mrs.Palin's speech, did she mention that single working mothers and their children are among the highest counted homeless in America? Oh, No! These young mothers are suppose to pull themselves up by the bootstraps, and like Mrs Palin, shoot, gut, and cook a moose while holding a babe on one hip, and bragging to anyone who will listen, what a pitbull she is in politics.
Now we find out that Congress had already scrapped the famous "bridge to nowhere" before she loudly touted it as her own success story. This is a woman that McCain met twice and was quoted as instantly knowing she was his "soul mate"????? Give me a break!!! What about his wife? For my husband who is of fine character, it is God first, then wife and country.
Makes one wonder if John McCain would have chosen Mrs Palin as a VP candidate if she looked like Madeline Albright.......
America, the United States of Whiners
Some of these blogs are unbelievable. I'd make a bet that the majority of negative post, especially in these blogs, towards Republicans are under the age of, say 25. Have you forgotten that just 8 short years ago, your country was not only invaded by several terrorist that blew up your twin towers, but those same terrorist had actually lived in the United States for a number of years while they went to your schools and learned aviation? Do you actually think this won't/can't happen again? If you're under the age of 25, you can't possibly comment because 8 years ago, many of you were concerned with high school graduation. Were you not? You are the people I would appeal to if I were Obama. I would appeal to those not old enough or wise enough to see the real issues.
While you're focusing on a 17 year old unwed mother, how much experience Palin has, how much Obama has, how much they don't have, who is prolife/prochoice, etc, you need to wise up and stop with the "smoking guns". As a Canadian, I could care less who you vote for, but it's abundantly clear to us that you've lost focus. Your country did not get in the shape it is overnight, and no man/woman is going to save it for you in the future. Unless you've actively pursued the interest/beliefs of both parties, be they Democrat/Republicn, voted in local elections (all of them), did your part to conserve energy, did your part to correct the problems you complain about, then you can't complain. How many of you elect your politicians on a local level? How many of you "just woke up" from that deep sleep you were in only to realize that gas was $4.00 a gallon, and your country was in deep trouble at all levels? How many got actively involved to stop the very things you bitch and complain about? Now, all of the sudden, out of this deep sleep" the election comes around and you are somehow "qualified" to vote on issue that you know nothing about. You remind me of a bad bacteria. Doctors have warned about the misuse of antibiotics for the past two decades, yet how many of you continue to take them, and how many doctors continue to dole them out like candy. Guess what, now your typical antibiotic has grown resistant to certain bacteria. Now you want miracle antibiotics. You can't have it both ways.
You want to put down the Bush administration, embrace a complete liberal (a 360 degree turn if you will) because you need a "fresh change". You weren't concerned enough the past eight years and now that it's hitting your pocketbooks, that "qualifies" you to vote in an election. Those "changes" by Obama include"opening your borders", closing military bases, befriending your enemies, taking away your guns, and then taxing you to death. Talk about sitting ducks!!!! What a bunch of whiners!!!!! You think a United Health care system is not going to cost you. Come to Canada where it exist.
Whether I like McCain?Palin or not, I'd look at what they propose for your country. McCain doesn't propose opening your borders, closing military bases, giving aide to illegal immigrants, creating a national healthcare system that will raise your taxes in access of 36%. Whether I agreed with abortion or not, I wouldn't count that person out because they were prolife. That's a personal issue and conviction and unless it personally effects you, it's nothing to worry about. Blaming all your problems on Washington, while you've been asleep is not going to solve your issues. fault finding won't do it either. Taking a 360 degree leap in another direction won't do it. There's a much bigger problem looming in the background, and liberalism is not going to solve your problems. Stop whining because gas is $4.00 a gallon, so you can't drive that new SUV you wanted. Stop whining because you can't affored insurance and expecting Uncle Sam to take care of you. Stop whining because you fell asleep 8 years ago because you expected one man in Washington to solve all your belly aches and only went to war AFTER terrorists lived in and invaded your country. Bush was Ok then wasn't he? If he had not gone to war, he would have been called a coward for not defending the US. Now that he did, you still whine. Whiners
Is America blind?
Am I the only one that realizes McCain’s choice in Palin is nothing more than a Hollywood stunt? His campaign is getting slaughtered and made a desperate attempt to steal away the spotlight from Obama. Shockingly, it's working! The ignorance of so many Americans boggles the mind. If all you have to do to get elected is associate yourself with a demographic, we're in serious trouble. I watched her speech last night and witnessed multiple 40+ year old women cheer for her like she was freaking Oprah. They didn't even know who she was last week! WAKE UP AMERICA!! Use your brain. Don't vote for someone because they are a woman, black, or POW, etc. Focus on the issues.
McCain - Palin '08!

Rock the House, Sarah!
You got THIS vote in Georgia!!!!!

PALIN IS A CRAZY PERSON!!
OMG what are people thinking!!? this crazy is straight out of the 40s! and thats not a good thing.
this crazy wants to remove the separation of church and state!!
she keeps speaking politically saying things like "this is a job from god", and "this is gods quest"!! are you kidding me?! shes gonna start WW3 talking like that. and hello!! what about the millions of americans that dont believe in god?? she just gonna feed them to the wolves!!
not counting the fact she cares nothing for the environment, she has said climate change isnt caused by man and polar bears and alaskan wolves dont need protection. all this on the same day a 40 mile chunk of the north pole just broke off and is melting away as we speak!!
Shes also against abortion in ANY form EVEN RAPE AND INCEST!!
if this lady gets office the U.S is over as a world power and she may just ruin the world.... i dont care if satan was on the ticket against this crazy i wouldnt vote for her..
hypocrisy
Palin, you gonna be down for all the baby's momma now??? not just the "white upper class" unwed mothers? hey, ps-don't forget about the deadbeat dads...oh wait, in your fantasy republican life everyone lives happily (forceably) ever after!!!!!
'God's Will"
Does Palin have any common sense or ability to think on her own without having to rely on 'God's will' as an answer. Maybe the Christian Conservatives are happy with her answers but I can tell you there is a very large population of Christians and other non Christian Religions in the US that know it takes humans to create action and follow through with commitments and be responsible for the consequences both good and bad for their actions.
"God's will" is not a satisfactory answer. Since when is church and state interwoven, this country is supposed to be founded and brought up on separate and apart church and state. Can we please get down to business, focus on the facts, create action, be responsible for the consequences and drop the religion from our Government and political discussions.
It is not God's will for us to be fighting in Iraq, I am disgusted by her comments and reference to this and the last thing we need in government and especially the White House is someone that can't make a decision, will not own up to the consequences of their decisions and constantly uses 'God' as a scapegoat. I guess I can blame Santa Claus for never getting that 10 speed bike when I was 8 years old. Come on let's grow up and take responsibility for out actions.
We don't need Palin in the White House making excuses for the last 8 years of government, planning the next 8 and using 'God' as her excuse for poor leadership.
Take her off the ticket.

lol, the big deal is that clinton didn't try to tell the public that having oral sex in the oval office was wrong before he got caught doing it. he denied he had an affair with monica; he lied about his personal behavior. that was wrong and stupid.
but, clinton was not trying to tell others how to live their lives. at no point did clinton say "those who cheat on their wives should be punished, and we need laws to reflect this".
ms palin is actively pushing for abstinence only sex ed for kids when she can't even get the message thru to her own daughter.
those who try to push their beliefs on the rest of us need to put up, shut up, or leave others alone.
what I foundon McCain
Senator John McCain is playing the POW card. He claims his experience qualifies him to be commander in chief and president. It also protects him from his enemies. The "Hero Pulpit" is high above the crowd and beyond reproach. If that's true, why are his records sealed and the subject taboo? And not just his military records here but the careful notes and logs made by his captors in Vietnam?
Here's a few things we DO know:
1. He graduated at the bottom of his class at the naval academy. Some reports state that he wouldn't have graduated at all if not for his father, the decorated admiral.
2. He crashed five planes.
3. He broke both his arms, not from abuse by Viet Cong but failing to hold them in when he ejected after being down.
4. He received special treatment in POW camps due to his father's position.
5. He gave military and other information to his captors in exchange for medical treatment not afforded other prisoners.
6. He made 32 propaganda films/tapes for the Viet Cong.
7. He was given access to dignitaries and international reporters.
8. He was kept away from other prisoners much of the time (which makes verification conveniently tough).
9. He was given the nickname "Songbird" because he so freely gave out information.
10. He snubbed the villager that saved his life after the crash, but maintained a life-long relationship with one of his captors.
11. He was not promoted after being released, which is often the case.
12. He went to great lengths to have his military and POW records sealed.
13. He also fought to seal the records of other MIA/POW's and prevent their families from investigating and trying to recover their loved ones.
14. He continues to hedge against benefits for GI's, even though he is the recipient of those benefits.
His whole campaign is based on his status as a war hero. But if he's really the hero he claims to be, why not release the records? Why change and embellish the few stories he likes to repeat? Why not help others who are still missing their soldiers in Vietnam after all these years? Why not speak out for better treatment of GI's and veterans? Why not talk about his experiences candidly and answer questions frankly instead of holding them up as a banner of unimpeachable glory?
Don't get me wrong. I don't question his patriotism. I think we owe a huge debt of gratitude to all our service men and women. They risk and often give their lives for us, while we sit comfortably at our computers and complain to each other about how hard life is. In that respect, John McCain is a hero, just like all the others who wear the uniform in harm's way.
But General Clark was right. In going over his list of experiences, I can't see how any of them qualify him to be president. They certainly don't prove him to be a great military tactician. If anything they point toward failure.
Is this the kind of president we want? One who hides behind the flag, whose only focus is war, and who gets his advice from the lobbyists who work to subvert our economy and our rights? I don't think so! It's time for John McCain to take his place on bingo night at the DAV lodge, where he can tell his stories any way he likes. We need a president who's up to the task of improving ethics on the hill and solving the terrible problems we face here, at home.

McCain's mantr "honesty and integrity"???
Two questions I have:
#1
If Palin's daughter is going to marry the father of the baby, why hasn't she done so? There's been plenty of time. Perhaps it's just a line to satisfy the evangelical base McCain is fishing for.
#2
To know you are carrying a Down's Syndrome baby, a woman must have an amniocentesis around the 4th or 5th month of pregnancy. If Palin's stand is "abortion is wrong", why did she have the amnio? The procedure is potentially dangerous to the baby so would a mother have the procedure if the results don't matter. This doesn't make sense to me.
