Blog Buzz: Hillary Clinton to Speak, a New Cold War, Obama and the Troops, and Veepstakes

No—not all in one item! Clinton to speak, Georgia gets Cold , troop love for Obama, and veepstakes

Posted August 14, 2008

Our daily look at stories and topics lighting up the Internets:

The Hillary Deal

Hillary Clinton will be entered into nomination at the Democratic convention. Does this have any kind of substantive effect? No. Does it make HRC supporters happy? Yes.

Georgia: Cold War II?

The Cold War Part 2? No—and beware people who pretend otherwise. (Question: Should we care whether Russia dominates Georgia? And what does the argument tell us about political worldviews?) Here's a roundup of what conservatives would have us do. And: John McCain is dispatching personal envoys to the region—presumptuous or presidential? What has McCain being telling the president of Georgia, anyway?

A Military Endorsement of Obama? Not quite

Barack Obama has an almost 6-to-1 margin over McCain in contributions from military personnel deployed overseas. Do they love this guy or what? Umm, maybe not.

Veepstakes

McCain-Ridge (or McCain-anyone pro-abortion rights)? Hold up there, Johnny boy, say conservatives. Obama-Bayh (or Obama-anyone pro-Iraq war resolution)? Please, no, Barry, say liberals.
