Public Opinion: How Different Would a McCain Presidency Be From Bush-Cheney?

McCain appears to be distancing himself from the incumbents. Is it plausible, or would he be the same?

Bush/Cheney= McCain/Bush policies

McCain has agreed with all of the Bush policies since the very beginning. Although, I must admit he does flip-flop from one moment to another. But my belief is he will continue with the disastrous Bush policies, especially since he is surrounding himself with former Bush people. Look who he has advising him. He may say the are no longer involved, such as, Foreclosure Phil Gramm. But Charles Black is still around amongst others. I pray and hope voters will not vote McClone in as our situation is a complete disaster as it is. The Republicans say Obama has no experience or knowledge of Washington D.C. well, perhaps that is for the best. He hasn't learn the dirty tricks or how to game the system as McCain and the other older politicians have learned after many years. We already know what the Republican can't do--lead the country, and frankly, Obama certainly won't do any worse than Bush.

McCain- v.s - BushCheney

No change in policy or the condition of the nation. Both parties are immunized from popular opinion or the realities of global economics run by offshore oligarchs.

The oil money, East and West, promotes religious extremism on both sides. War and genocide are the result of arming gangs and warlords. The money and blood wasted for economic influence of a few has not awakened any population from its stupor.

Cynicism and corruption are the equal playing field.

War isn't hell. Its profit.

McCain Administration

When WSJ asked about the economic plans of the two candidates. 68% chose the McCain Plan. We have already witness the strength of McCain on the Surge in Iraq. When asked about jobs, McCain stated He would provide funds for Education, Training for new jobs. China has lost more Manufacturing jobs then the US. The next President will not have to build the infrastructure that followed 9-11. They may have to adjust the programs and update the security measures. The unspoken question is, where would we be with out the events that changed all of our lives. And some of us remember the news story . In which Tom Hanks was asked about a case involving a writer and one of his movies, the difference between gross profits and net profits. Where would Big Oil be showing its profits. Maybe if they will throw out some more leases, we will not be considering the land leases as appeasement. Of course none of us really believe that the environmental movement. And its biggest supporters would use such old fashion political strategy. The demagoguery of the other presumptive nominee has shown that American Voters are not as ignorant as both He and His Party believe.

McCain for president

I am afraid of what O'bama would do to the economy, McCain has not shown me anything new either. He appears to be pretty much a copy of Bush, except that he is a little more flexible when it comes to negotiating with the opposition. Hopefully he is more open to what the constituients are saying. I still have not been convienced by either party that they are who I want in the White House.

McCain -- Change We Can Believe In

A Real Energy Policy; Real Tax Cuts for Businesses and Individuals; A Real Foreign Policy; Real Controls Over Federal Spending; Real Fixes for Social Security; Real Fixes for Medicare; and a Real Immigration Policy -- a proven track record -- not just empty promises.

I think McCain is significantly different from Bush

1) McCain does not have the same ties to the religious right that Bush does; Bush's willingness to excessively push religion, particularly at the expense of science, long ago became quite disturbing.

2) While McCain shares many of the same political viewpoints as Bush, McCain is much more flexible and willing to a) compromise with others who disagree, and b) adapt his thinking to reality when what he is doing isn't working. Bush is simply too inflexible.

McCain's first term or Bush's third?

I can't see anyway McCain's first term would be any different from Bush's. He supports the war, maintaining tax breaks that reward the well off at the expense of the working classes and their children and is right in line in supporting Republican policies that trash the economy, women's and worker's rights. How is this different from what we've had for the past eight years under Bush? McCain is just another spoiled son of the elites who have run this country into the ground. The only thing that distinguishes McCain from Bush is that he followed his father into the military. While he may be a military man, and deserves respect on that ground, it does not fit him for high political office. His record at Annapolis corresponds to the Bush misbehaviors. Spoiled children of the rich seldom turn out to be anything more than rich, spoiled, misbehaving people incapable of working well with others - something McCain has evidenced very clearly in the Senate.

The 2009 off-year elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York's 23d Congressional District offer a small snapshot of the current views and motivations of the American electorate. While there may be a desire to extrapolate the events of Nov. 3, 2009 into a prediction of what will happen on Nov. 2, 2010, that is impossible.
