Public Opinion: Should the United States Permit Offshore Drilling for Oil?
Proponents say that it will help prices but critics say it would harm the environment
President Bush Tuesday continued pressing members of Congress to lift its ban on offshore drilling for oil. Bush and his allies argue that it will increase domestic production and eventually lower prices. Opponents, mostly Democrats, argue that it would have no effect in the immediate term and could be environmentally ruinous. Should the United States allow offshore drilling? Post your thoughts below.

off shore drilling/ obama
Yes we should allow off shore drilling, I am sick and tired of hearing from those enviormentalists saying its not good for the enviorment. What is good for it? They sure don't know, for all we know it could be a natural process ruining the enviorment, which I believe it is. Throughout history, there have been ice ages, floods, earthquacks, and natural disasters, and it not going to stop. As far as Obama goes, he doesn't have the sense to be president, and never will, he scares the hell out of me. The man is not what he appears to be, he is hiding his true nature and I can see that when he speaks in riddles, and by his known associates of the past. He has a very hidden agenda, and I don't want to see that agenda, nor would any other American.
Another Iraq-style DISTRACTION
Same tune, different verse. We SHOULD be using our precious little time and money to convert to renewable energy sources; instead we get this short-sighted and expensive distraction to continue fixing this dead-end road we're on. Just as Iraq was an expensive distraction from the culprits of 9-11, so is drilling a mis-guided attempt to spend our meager resources in building even more drilling machinery. Can't we think beyond the end of our nose????
