Public Opinion: Is Barack Obama or John McCain a Worse Flip-Flopper?

George Bush

this country is in trouble anyway, George Bush has run us in the dirt so far we'll never get out. So no matter who is elected president, they will have to suffer the opinions of the public because of Bush.

flip-flop

The newsmedia are the flip-flops. They grasp at every stray to make a point

Flexibility is needed in any situation, whether the way you run the government or the way you run your household. If the present regime was a little more flexible and flip-flop, we would not be in the mess we are in today. They would have checked out the situation more thoroughly before going headstrong into an unnecessary war. Talking about pro-life; but they are willing to kill millions of people - even 4000 plus of our own -- because they were not willing to change course and listen to reason.

An intelligent person will size up a situation and act accordingly. That's being smart. You weigh the situation each day and make a prudent decisions.

Always explaining...

I think the flip flopping title has to be Obama's. It's strange when every week, a candidate has to call a press conference to explain what they meant to say or what their real position is on a topic, or what they've always said in the past. Take Obama's position on Iran that he called one of "tiny countries" that we need not worry about. Then later he explains he only meant that in comparison to the Soviet Union and how large it was before collapsing. Yeah...that's what he meant.

Republicans

The only way I would vote for a Republican would be if the RNC replaced McCain with Mike Huckabee! He may not be from an Ivy League school ----but neither is he a dummy. Add to that, average people like him and the majority of the US citizens are made up of average citizens.

I think the downfall of McCain was the calling his wife the "C" word in public. You reporters gave him a pass but it got out. Had I been Cindy, I would have run over him with my plane-----------instead of letting him use it.

Flip Flop

There are loopholes which politicians on both sides of the Isle have used to circumvent the Public Campaign Law. Obama knew that. McCain knows how to take advantage of that. When he refused to agree to stop taking advantage of those loopholes, that was when Obama flipped-flopped.

The current law is a mockery. So, what is needed is a re-write of the law, to eliminate any possible loopholes.

The other point being, we do need politicians who arew willing and able to change their minds. What we have been witness to these past 8 years especially if "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" or "when a fanic sees he or she is failing, they merely re-double their efforts." A little flip-flopping will be a refreshing change.

FLIP FLOPS

McCain seems to listen to the people that come to his Town Meetings, then takes in to account how his position is affecting them, He researches asks then is open to changing his position. This is a good thing for a president. Obama changes his position according to how it will affect only him and what it will bring him. At his meetings he does not seem to listen to what anyone that has come to hear HIM has to say. He researches THIER position, then orates it to them as if it is his position but the position changes the next meeting if the new audiance is on the other side. For instance he will tell women that they will get equal pay and yearly raises BUT will tell business owners that he knows they cannot pay higher wages .Tell the factories and Unions that he will get rid of NAFTA BUT tell canada that he did not mean it that was just campaign talk. Obama does not just flip-flop he outright lies to your face . Will this be his foriegn strategy? his flips have been reported all over the world. Who will trust a word he says?

OIL LEASES

Having an oil lease or many of them does not mean that the oil co, can drill, nor does it mean that if they are allowed to drill that oil will be found. Most of the Gulf, and continental shelf and even much of the Everglades is already leased but drilling is banned. They hold on to them in case the ban is lifted. They buy the leases like a lottery. No ticket is a sure winner. On thier balance sheet only the cost of the lease is an asset . No drilling no big asset just a big question mark

FLIP vs FLOP

Obama may flip, but McCain is a flop.

Flip-Flopper

Flip-Flopping has all ways been part of politics and part of every one life in fact I am glade the human been can chang there mind because no one is always right. Mr McCain has canged hes mind the most i blive. Mr McCain and Mr Obama changing there minds a little is ok. but bening intellange is knowing when not to go to war.

Public Financing & Off-shore drilling

I am glad that Obama opted out of public financing. Let that tax-payer's $80 million be put to some other good use. This flip-flop saves tax-payer money. I encourage such flip-flops. McCains justifies his flip-flop on offshore drilling on current gas prices. This is another gimmick just as the gas-tax holiday. His campaign is soaked with oil industry lobbyist money. He has to support them. We as voters should ask the oil industry why don't they start drilling and producing oil out of more than 68 million acres of public land they are holding for years. I spent my 30 years of professional life in energy industry. I know why oil industry is in a hurry to have their hands on off-shore oil leases before the oil-men leave the White House in Jan 2009. It's not to drill and produce oil and relieve us from misery. It's simply to acquire these leases, put them on their corporate balance-sheets and show as new asset. This will help them look good financially which would help boost their stock price. We, the People, should not allow corporate America play on our misery (of $4 gas price). Rise up America.
