Scott McClellan's New Memoir Blasting Bush—Appropriate?

McClellan/Bush

It was totally appropriate.

Bush et al are "puzzled" because they can't understand why McClellan would tell the truth!

Bush's "integrity" is like a bald man's combover. He's dishonest, he knows he's dishonest, he knows that everyone knows he's dishonest, yet he continues to act like a paragon of virtue and honesty.

Just nine more months and every American can delight in declaring TGGIG (Thank God George Is Gone)!

Loyal To Whom

Loyal person of TX, obviously your loyalty is not to this great country but to your own ignorance. As for Myriam of NJ, need you say more? Did you even say anything?

Someone in this "administration" needed to become human and show some courage, it's never too late for righting wrong.

Pres. Bush's former press sec. and deceptive practices

It certainly is appropriate for the former press sec. to reveal some of the half-truths and blunderings of the George W. Bush administration - and about time. It is abundantly clear, at this point in time, that the American public has been duped and lied to by the deceptive and unprincipled Executive Branch of government. My main concern now, is that America will wake up and throw these people out of office in November.

Nothing New

This book has caused a rather explosive reaction in the press and on talk radio. What has the former press secretery really revealid that Bush critics have not been saying all along? Does it really take an "insider" to wake us up?

Strange Choice of Word

Is it "appropriate" to tell the nation it's been led into a disastrous war by credulous, reckless fools? Uh, yeah, unless you're more offended by frankness than by national catastrophe. You guys are really straining for a spin on this, aren't you?

Timing?

No one should question Scott's right to share his experiences inside the Bush White House. His timing, however, is questionable.

He comes from Texas. His mother is in politics. What the heck did he expect???

No one, not even W, would question a book after the presidency. But now Scott? Really, did you need the money that badly?

Truth = Appropriate

I agree with the poster who says the truth is appropriate. I applaud McClellan's courage in speaking the truth, even though it will doubtless destroy his political career.

I'm not so sure about the poster who called this a "rag of a magazine" since it's really just signaling bias by inserting "appropriate" into the headline. Maybe if you called it a "biased rag of a magazine" I would concur, but I'm not sure. It may not be bias so much as a stunt to get supporters and opponents of the administration to screech at each other.

"Tell him to get a job and not live off someone else' name to make a name for himself."

"Tell him to get a job and not live off someone else' name to make a name for himself."

Wait, are we talking about McClellan or Bush here? Haha, wasn't Bush the one who got into Yale as a legacy, did poorly there, failed repeatedly in the private sector, only to then succeed in politics based on family name?

I see why a Bush supporter would hope this is based on greed or bad feelings, but is there any objective reason to see it this way? Seems like McClellan actually just killed any chance of working in politics in the future.

More Guts Than Most of His Colleagues

I can see where some would claim McClellan is an opportunist, but in view of the Bush Administration's record of unparalleled vindictiveness against those they view as disloyal (Shinseki, Fallon, Wilson and Plame ring a bell?), I think it took a lot of courage to speak out, even at this late date.

What About The Future

Why do you think that any of the people running now would be any diffrent. You

have a hot head, a woman who cannot remenber what happened last week, and a man who has no idea what he is getting into. I guess time will tell.

By Tom Davis

Seven lessons the parties need to learn from Tuesday's races.

The 2009 off-year elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York's 23d Congressional District offer a small snapshot of the current views and motivations of the American electorate. While there may be a desire to extrapolate the events of Nov. 3, 2009 into a prediction of what will happen on Nov. 2, 2010, that is impossible.
