North Korea Threatens Attack as U.S. Destroyer Tracks Ship to Myanmar

Pyongyang issued fresh threats of retaliation Monday as U.S. warship tailed a North Korean cargo ship suspected of carrying missiles.

"As long as our country has become a proud nuclear power, the U.S. should take a correct look at whom it is dealing with," said a commentary in the Rodong Sinmun newspaper, which is regarded as a source of official viewpoints.

"It would be a grave mistake for the U.S. to think it can remain unhurt if it ignites the fuse of war on the Korean peninsula."

The newspaper also blasted President Obama's recent pledge to protect South Korea, saying it was an attempt to attack the North with atomic bombs.

According to YTN, the South Korean news network, the United States has deployed a Navy destroyer and is suing satellites to track a North Korean cargo ship, which was expected to travel to Myanmar via Singapore.

The ship is reportedly the first North Korean vessel to be tracked under new United Nations sanctions.

This mission comes as the Pentagon prepares for the possibility that North Korea may attempt to launch a missile toward Hawaii.

Last week, media in Japan reported the possibility of North Korea firing a missile over Japan in the direction of America's 50th state around the July 4th holiday.

"This administration - and our military - is fully prepared for any contingencies," Obamas told CBS.

According to Seoul's Chosun Ilbo newspaper, the Obama administration is considering sending former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to China to persuade officials there to enforce the United Nation sanctions against North Korea.

united is a douchbag!

they are nose and can suck clveage

to clear some things up

i think i should take the comment by dave michaels and clear some things up. spewing opinions from arrogance is not how you show your ideals to others. the reason north Korea is threatening us is because the U.N. lawfully and with good reason, prohibited north Korea from developing their nuclear program that was clearly being used to illegally build nuclear missiles. yes the Korean, Vietnam, and Iraq war didn't have anything to do with American freedom. but those wars were all because a harsh dictatorship invaded our allies with no regard for human life. yes we stepped in and it did shed our own blood, but it was for the greater good to better life to all, and that my friend, is worth anyone's life, even my own. also, the bases in other countries are all voluntary. we cant just go guns blazing and say were putting a base here. all bases are leased to America BY the country which it says " you can stay here if you pay for the expenses" to prove this, we had a base in the Philippines and when the lease ran out, the Philippines basically said " were not renewing your lease, get out" and we did. the reason for these bases like in Germany, was to create a NATO web of bases for mutual defense. which is so say if the soviet union attacked germany in the cold war, they would be attacking the United States and all countries of NATO. most people don't see that the acts of the U.S. aren't all just cause we feel like were better. but lots of Americans don't want to accept that thier wrong.

So much for patriotism!

What makes us such a super power is not our government, it's our people. It's a sad day when i see Americans bad mouthing Americans. I see both sides of the story whether it's we shouldn't be butting our nose into other countries business or coming to the aid of foreign countries. What kills me is that we're Americans regardless of what political mindset we're in and i think that we all forget that. It's kinda funny to me to see people talk about Military presence and action around the world yet have never been forward deployed and seen the good we actually do. They like to "arm-chair" analyze everything they see on the news when they have never been on the front lines. I think this world might be better off if we backed one another...it's kinda like family. Regardless if your brother is an idiot always getting into trouble he's still family and you should back his play. Instead of cursing the government and what we as a nation do wrong we should honor the ones who have died for our freedom because if you think about it, those that died, that you say died for nothing, joined and served our nations defense because they believed they were doing something good. Maybe those that curse the government should pick up a rifle and protect this nations assets! Put up or shut up, don't be immature and point the finger at someone when you yourself are to much of a coward to stand a post, Dave Michaels of IL.
