Explaining Obama's Mild Reaction to North Korea's Missile Launch

Have we learned nothing from Bush's many overreactions?

North Korea is not the threat its lunatic leadership wants the world to believe it is, ala Saddam Hussein. North Korea requires a cool-headed approach, not provocative saber-rattling that will only encourage them to pull greater stunts. Their people are suffering because the international sanctions have dealt their economy a heavy blow. The only way to get those sanctions eased is to fire a missile to get the world's attention and appeasement from the U.N. The best way to deal with a disruptive child is ignore him. It doesn't mean you don't pay attention to what he does. North Korea requires a policing action, as Iraq did, not war. We have the ability to tactically-nuke their missile program at any time. They know it, we know it. Lets finish what we started in Iraq and Afghanistan first and allow the sanctions to continue to erode North Korea's economic infrastructure. We are probably within a decade of that regime collapsing and that country imploding.

WHY THE BACK OFF?

RESTRAINED ??? I WATCHED ON T.V. WHILE OBAMA DECLARED THAT NORTH KOOREA MUST BE PUNISHED--PUNISHED !

AM I THE ONLY ONE IN THE U.S. OR THE WORLD WHO SAW THIS ?

I WONDER WHY THIS IS BEING SUPRESSED. IS OBAMA SUDDENLY AWARE THAT HIS DECLARATION MIGHT COME BACK TO BITE ??

I'll give Obama a pass for this one

since he is trying to emphasize diplomacy all over the world, but the next NK missile going up should be shot right back down. I have a feeling he knows this too.

Complete example of a Lack of Leadership

President Obama had better get his sea legs soon or this country is in big trouble. The Russia told Obama to go pound sand, Iran thinks he is weak and they mock him, and now NK is doing whatever they want. Do you see a trend here, but this is our fault. VP Biden told us that they would make decisions that my now seem to be the correct course of action in the beginning. And he should know, he has been wrong on every major foreign policy issue since he has been a public servant.

You know that the "Players responsible for the Overseas Contingency Operation" are making plans as we speak.

President Obama is going to make Jimmy Carter look like Truman. He is weak and inexperienced and his blame America attitude will cause this country long term harm.

rap summary

back in '06 the UN blew the whistle

and decided any shot was cool except missiles

Pyongyang tends to forget what was said

and recently threw a missile right over Japan's head

and Japan called a timeout to avoid fighting

Obama came in and said "rules must be binding"

China and Russia said "you might be right

but that wasn't a missile, that was just a satellite"

Trade not Aid

Actually any increase in food sales to North Korea and buys of zinc and iron ore (or billets) and shipping if paid for and not given would be good.

Donations to Korea would be worthless, better none.

Buys even for strategic stockpiles would be good. Better

deals like these instead of nuclear merchandise would give Korea

money and less need of under the counter nuclear merchandise.

Rbrm illegal drugs for stockpile or other uses are better than

deals they make in nuclear. Also encourage work in the Gulf for their workers to earn money would be good, also shipping.
