Thanks James of Illinois-- great comment

When Far Right politicians say a nation must be "democratized," they mean it must be forced to become capitalistic. Here is a vital quote from Pg 1414, Vol. 4 of an edition of The Catholic Reference Encyclopedia. It's part of the definition of "Private Property." It says "The Church vigorously defends against those political systems that seek to replace private with public property." Isn't that exactly what the USA has been doing on behalf of the Church? We warred with anti-capitalist Chile & Allende who nationalized its natural resources. We did the same to Mossadegh's Iraq who also nationalized. We did the same to N. Vietnam, N. Korea and Sandinista Nicaragua. There, Catholic Somoza shot the pro-Labor Sandino brothers. We did the same to Hussein's nationalized Baath Party Iraq. For decades, the US Information Agency has broadcast Catholic Mass to Cuba. Reagan said his presidency was guided by the pope. Cuba's full of rich people who fled the Revolution, still furious they lost their privileged position, as did the Church itself. I urge fellow citizens to study the past of Cuba and see the Revolution was rightful. The sugar cartel was against it and we've paid too much for sugar all this time. Please welcome Obama's policy of change

Why?

Why exactly do we still embargo this nation? If you follow a policy for 40 years and it isn't working, maybe it's time to change that policy.

Cuba Waits for Obama

Another great article by T. Omestad.

Cuba for cuban, Cuban american stay out

I dont undestand why it is,,that Cuba need to be Democratic to trade? is like a stranger coming to my house and telling me, "i dont like the choice of paint you have for your house, you need to paint it just like mine," i say so what!. let the Cuban do what is best for the countrymen, and Obama stop listening to the idiot Cuban senator and congremans from NJ and Florida. if the Castro brother were to die of fall today of tomorrow, these would have a vacuum of power, remenber what happened in Bagdad. is like these Cuban senior citizen think if Fidel or Raul is out the picture they somehow will get back what was lost in the 1960. come on..Borron y Cuenta nueva.

Correction: Temas*

I'm fairly certain the Cuban Journal you refer to is called "Temas"

Cuba

We need to get over our snit at being betrayed by Castro. It happened over 40 years ago and we are losing out economically on helping to develop the island.

obama and cuban visit

casrtols comment on Obama is motivational. Its the begining of good relationshiop between USA and CUBA Federation. Its not easy to democratised CUBA Federation but at least we see OBAMA making the head of the state ( Castrols brother ) being soft to his subjects. OBAMA and AMERICANS must see CUBAN and accept them the way they are as this will go along way to foster the already dented relationship between the two countries. We see OBAMA doing to CUBANS what TEN previous AMERICAN presidents with the exception of president BILL CLINTON have not done to better the relationship between the parties. tHE WORLD IS LOOKING FORWARD TO A RE- UNION of the 2 nations. Am not an American so have to post my state to kansas to enable my comments past through

You should of voted for McCain??

Are you a an idiot why do you want Bush back? Hes the one who led us into this economic crysis. Obama has been trying to clean up after the mess that Bush left in the whitehouse. As for McCain.....enough said.

Who is against Cuba?

I tell you.. The old Hacendados, right wing politicos, ex-Generals, the mob and all the rest of Batista cronies who enriched themselves while oppressing ordinary Cubans. All with the blessing and support of the US Government.

Oppression and repression by right wing military dictatorships in Latin America has always been welcomed by the US Government, while any hints of Socialism have been responded to with military or covert actions.

Read your history and see how many times Latin American countries have been invaded by the US military in order to protect their puppet governments and transnational interests.

How can we as Americans expect to be respected or even loved with such actions?

We ordered the assassination of democratically elected Chilean president Salvador Allende. We have contracted with the mob and others to assassinate Fidel Castro.

How can we be proud of ourselves?

Our policy toward Cuba is based on anger and resentment, not reality. We think of Cuba as one of our children gone astray providing the wrong example to others, so for that, they need to be severely punished. 11 presidents couldn't bump off Fidel and they tried everything.

President Obama, it is time to end this charade.

"The respect of others rights, is peace" - Benito Juarez.

Cuba Waits for Obama as Ailing Fidel Castro Fades From Scene

“Cold War, Communist government, Democratic change, open it’s political system?? Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, a senior Foreign Ministry official: "What I see there is the same mistake previous administrations have made," she adds. "The U.S. needs to accept Cuba the way Cuba is."

“Cuban defiance of the norteamericanos has become a way of life, a stubbornness matched by a U.S. approach that, though still failing, just keeps on ticking”.

Time to re-set the US policy clock regarding Cuba and for all of "Latin" America. It is time for "America" (U.S.of A) to become part of AMERICAS and stop acting politically as if it were the whole of America.
